Download Password Safe

I talk frequently about the need to keep online and application passwords secure. While I personally use AccountLogon for this purpose, specifically because I like the combined simplicity of storing my passwords and handling automatic sign-on to frequently visited sites, you can get the same level of protection using a free app that was heavily influenced by Bruce Schneier, author of Applied Cryptography. Password Safe, the app in question, requires you to generate a master password for locking down other passwords and warns you if the password is one that might be easily guessed by brute force code breaking tools. Encryption used to keep your passwords locked down is the 448-bit Blowfish algorithm, which is highly regarded as one of the most secure encryption schemes available (AccountLogon also uses this protection). Password Safe’s interface is simple, yet effective. Username/password combos are stored in user-defined categories, making it easy to find the password you need when you need it. When the app is closed, your passwords are safely locked behind some seriously strong encryption. [Windows 9x/2k/XP $0.00]
