PSP 2.5 Firmware Hack

If you’ve been holding back on the firmware upgrades for Sony’s PSP specifically because you want to run homebrew apps, there may be hope. Fanjita over at PSP Updates found a hole in GTA: Liberty City Stories allowing unsigned code to run through the application. At this point, it’s merely a Hello World! demo application, but proof of concept on 2.x firmware means serious potential for future homebrew exploits in the latest PSP codebase. It started with Hello World! in the 1.x firmware, it’s March 2005 all over again. PSP Updates includes the full instructions on how to run the code. GTA: Liberty City Stories required.
