There has been a lot of talk lately about whether or not iPods are causing hearing loss. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration it recommends noise not exceed 90 decibels for more than eight consecutive hours. As sound intensity increases, they claim, the ear tolerance decreases. So is time to throw those ear damaging noise makers away? NO!

The bottom line is that it is the responsibility of the consumer to know if the system is too loud. If you are wearing ear buds and you can not hear what is going on around you, chances are, they are too loud, turn them down. While I am sure that we all appreciate the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and their concern, many of us do not want a government entity telling us what is too loud. So if you listen to your iPod for eight straight hours a day and you experience hearing loss, shame on you and consider getting a job.
