The official debut of Creative Commons Music Sharing License happened at SXSW this week, along with a search service designed to locate permissible content.

For anyone not familiar, Creative Commons is an international nonprofit organization that provides copyright licenses that are simple and easy to understand. Their licenses help standardize the way creators like photographers, videographers, and musicians permit or deny reuse of their works. The licenses define restrictions for both commercial and non-commercial use. They also have a license that effectively releases creative works into the world with no copyright restrictions.
