Dylan Greene draws some vaild comparisons between features his car CD player does have and features Windows Media Player should have. Tops on his list:

  • Return to last item played on open
  • Switching between media types with memory
  • On the fly playlist switching

I’d argue the last feature is already available, although he’s right, it could be more intuitive. Last item opened only makes sense. Switching between media types would be nice too. If I’m watching a video and switch to listening to an audio track, I should be able to pick up where I left off in the video, without starting over. I think that feature died because the player no longer supports multiple instances like 6.4 did.
