I’m not sure what prompts a filmmaker to create a short film about a robot headed off to fight the “robot war,” complete with reactionary singing by his young master. I know nothing short of a robot war could prompt me to adapt an Irish ballad to modern drama. The camera work and staging reminds me of a soap commercial, which is strangely appealing. The robot appears to be inspired by Robbie from Forbidden Planet.
The Danny Bot website also features some entertaining robot-authored blog posts as well as a clever selection of images that a robot might consider pinups.
