SkypeOut, the portion of Skype’s service that places calls from Skype to traditional phone numbers costs a nominal fee no matter where you’re calling – until now. Tom Keating of VoIP Blog points out that placing a free SkypeOut call to Free411.com‘s free 411 service (800-373-3411) and having them connect the call (also free) results in no charge against your SkypeOut balance. The trick is, Skype does not charge SkypeOut minutes to place toll free calls. Of course the price of free in this case is a commercial message prior to the connection of your call.
