This one hits hard. I just saw that Nicko McBrain played his last Iron Maiden show a few days ago. At age 72, he’s certainly earned his retirement, but it’s still hard to imagine a world where he’s no longer touring.
As a metal-obsessed teenager back in the late eighties, Nicko McBrain was an inspiration as one of the few drummers who played a single bass drum in a world that was filling up with double bass.
