It’s been awhile since I’ve run across a corrupted video file, but I know it’s still possible. Digital Video Repair remains one of the best ways to recover damaged video files. Maybe a file you stored before switching computers no longer plays or you transferred something from an old drive and now it won’t work on your latest device. In many cases, Digital Video Repair will be able to fix it. When I originally wrote about this Windows app back in February 2008, it only supported AVI files. Now it supports most major video formats including AVI, MOV, MP4, M4V, MP4V, 3G2, 3GP2, 3GP and 3GPP. Before tearing out your hair when a video won’t play, save your scalp and a few hours of frustration by fixing those damaged or corrupted files[Windows $0.00]

I should note that the .exe version of Digital Video Repair comes bundled with RelevantKnowledge from Comscore, which is a software intended to gather anonymous market research. I would recommend either downloading the zip file or immediately uninstalling RelevantKnowledge. Comscore is a legitimate company, but this seems rather invasive, particularly in a moment when you’re trying to recover an important file.
