Official HP Magic Giveaway Announcement

Update #2 (6 December 2008): 4pm has passed and the selection process is underway. It may take a bit to validate the hundreds of entries to make sure they have all followed the rules put forth below.

Update (6 December 2008): I’m starting to get emails from people asking when the giveaway announcement will be made today. Expect an announcement at approximately 4pm Pacific time.

Several great contests have already been announced in the HP Magic Giveaway. November 28 Contests started at Gear Live, Bleeping Computer, and Windows Connected. November 29 saw contests launched by Thoughts on Poetics & Tech and Morningside Mom. Today Neowin and Boston Pocket PC join me in announcing HP Magic Giveaway contests.

In case you missed the original announcement about this giveaway, each of 50 sites are giving away a $6000 hardware package that includes 4 HP computers and a bunch of other great peripherals. The package also includes a number of software offerings from Microsoft and their Windows Live team.

One common thread among the HP Magic Giveaway contests is the idea that this huge prize deserves to be shared. Most of us don’t really need 4 computers at home, but we all know a person or an organization who could really use some help. For my giveaway, I’m asking you to tell me about who you would share some of this great hardware and software with and why. The winner will be selected randomly because it’s too difficult to judge the merit of one person’s reasons for sharing against another. As long as it’s feasible, I’ll be delivering the hardware to the selected winner in person. As a bonus, I’m donating an hour of my time to either help you set up this new gear or solving some existing computer frustration.

Contest rules:

1) You must be subscribed to Jake Ludington’s Digital Lifestyle newsletter on 6 December 2008 when the winner is announced.

2) You must post a comment to the official contest announcement (this page) about who (person or organization) you would share the prize with and why. Include city, state, and country in the body of your comment. Your real name and the same email address you subscribe to the newsletter with must be used in the comment entry form so that you can be contacted if you are selected.

3) You may receive up to two additional entries by doing the following:

Additional entry #1: Follow me on Twitter, link to the contest page in a tweet by using this link: http://bit.ly/JLHPMagic and #JLHPMagic somewhere in your tweet. Send me an email from your subscribed email address notifying me of your Twitter username.

Additional entry #2: The second way to get an additional entry is to link to this contest page from your blog, Myspace, Facebook, site, or other online presence using the code below. Send me an email from your subscribed email address notifying me of the location of your link.

The winner will be selected at random from those people who meet the entry requirements. The winner will be announced on 6 December 2008. If the winner is from the United States, I will deliver the prize to your door and provide an hour of free computer help barring any unforeseen circumstances. If the winner lives outside the United States, the prize will be shipped to your doorstep minus me and the computer help. I’m footing the bill for the travel (not HP or Microsoft), and while I’d love to roundtrip to somewhere more exotic than 100 miles outside Albuquerque, it’s just not feasible this month.

Go forth and share the magic.

  1. I would share my prize with my local place of worship because they could always use a computer over there. Although I have a lot of people in my family I don’t need all these computers. It would be good to share and I would also save on electricity bills. Giving away one computer is a win-win situation for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I would like to share my prize with an orphanage where children from 10 to 15 years live,as these are school going children who are in very need of these computers as they don’t have one.It would help them in their further studies and in their entertainment too.

If I were to win the HP Magic Giveaway I would share the prize with the organization, Schools for Schools, Invisible Children. I first learned about this organization through my school. Invisible Children was a documentary made my college students when they traveled to Northern Uganda. They found that children were being abducted to be used as soldiers in a war. They’ve been raising awareness since then by traveling to schools and selling their documentary. I feel that if more people knew about these atrocities that the donations would skyrocket. Specifically, the Schools for Schools program is raising money through schools in America to help build and rebuild schools in Northern Uganda. So far they’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, but any contribution is welcomed. I feel that some of this technology would be extremely useful to Schools for Schools, whether it be to aid the administrators of the organization in increasing awareness. Or hopefully, actually go to children in Northern Uganda, they surely deserve this technology more than the average American.

  4. I would give one of the computers and printers to my mom. She is the owner of a (very) small business, and her business is really struggling right now. Having the up-to-date technology would really make a world of difference in how she operates & manages her inventory (books). Her computer is pretty out-dated; the tower’s size alone is a hindrance but when you add in the bulky monitor plus her ‘mom-clutter’ it gets a little crazy to try to type up book descriptions. Also, it’s very very slow (256MB RAM). I scan it weekly for her for spy/adware and viruses, but it still struggles and hesitates to open up new pages/etc.
Besides the business reason, I really want to surprise her with the new computer because she’s sacrificed a lot to raise (and home school) me and my 2 younger siblings, and I’d really like a chance to see the look on her face when she opens up a brand-new computer (assuming she doesn’t faint!). 5. Hi Jake!
As I’ve detailed in my blog entry on http://silverambz.livejournal.com/273246.html
If I should happen to win, I’ll be giving a laptop to a friend of mine that works with special needs children for her work, donating the printer to a school for special needs children either for the school’s use or a raffle prize to raise money. I have 2 friends that are unemployed that will get some of the other gear, in the hopes that it will help them in some way. I’ll only be keeping the desktop pc and one laptop for my home-based business, since my laptop now is on its last legs and my desktop is becoming horribly obsolete for the type of work I do.
The school I will donate to is The Fletcher Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Website http://www.thefletcheracademy.com

  6. I’ll probably share the prize with one of my sisters (my other sister doesn’t need it) and my mother, who are using very old computers right now.
    New York, NY U.S.A.

  7. I would give / share the system with my church, James City Community Church in Williamsburg, VA. I help with the website for the church (http://jccchurch.com). We meet in a converted movie theater and have a coffee house with wifi. We are within walking distance of The College of William and Mary. I would need your help / instruction to use this to its fullest. This equipment would be great our so many ministries and students.

I would share one or maybe two of the laptops with my local unit of the United States Civil Air Patrol. We have a Cadet Program, we do Emergency Services (natural disasters and aviation related incidents), and we provide Aerospace Education to our community. Ft. Vancouver is a rather small unit of the CAP and therefore doesn’t get much funding. A new computer or two would greatly increase the capacity at which our unit could function and would be tremendously appreciated.

  9. If I were to win all this hardware, I would definitely share it with my brother Troy (Fairfield Mountain, Mandeville P.O. Box 1400, Manchester, Jamaica W.I.) who would absolutely love an upgrade from his XP machine (generic AMD Sempron 1.6 GHz 64 bit enabled, 512 MBs of RAM, 80 GB hard disk) to the HP HDX 18, he is a heavy user of AutoDesk AutoCAD and teaches Industrial Arts (Metal Work, Technical Drawing) at Vere Technical High School in Clarendon, Manchester, he often creates drafts and helps students convert hand drawings into digital drafts for his students School Based Assessment preparing them for Secondary school Caribbean Examination. I believe that sharing one of these powerful HP systems with him would be a great boost to his current projects and further boost to his current workflow as an instructor. What else would I do to emphasize the magic of this package? Giving away one of the laptop as a Christmas gift to a lucky member at the upcoming Church harvest (St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church Cross Keys) sounds like a good idea. A lot of folks are in rough economic times (world-wide) right now, giving somebody a laptop might not necessarily make oneรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs life completely better, but itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs a nice gesture that will make their holidays a very special and memorable one in addition to starting off the New Year with a bang. This collection of devices is screaming, show the good in you, so why not make the ‘smart’ choice of sharing the magic too.
    Thanks!

  11. I would share my prize with New Orleans, Louisiana-based WWOZ.org community radio station; they were hard-hit by Hurricane Katrina, but are back on the air (and online) as a non-profit radio station serving the New Orleans community and serving New Orleans’ rich music traditions to the world over the Internet.

  12. I would share the prize with Turtle Rescue of Long Island (http://www.turtlerescues.org/), which is based in Centereach, NY, USA. I’m currently working in habitat restoration and I know that the smaller rehabilitation groups have very little funding to work with. This group is very special, as they care for abandoned and injured turtles from all over the island, from abscesses to car accidents. My boyfriend, a programmer, is interested in helping them with tech support as part of the donation.
I hope I win, because I’d love to help out New York’s turtles more, even indirectly.

  13. I am the director of the Harrisburg District Library in Harrisburg, Illinois, United States. I would share the computers with the Young Adults in my library. The Young Adults have their own computer lab, but half of the computers have serious problems and need to be replaced. It would be fantastic if I could win 4 computers for my library!

  14. I would share the prize with my good friend and neighbor Dennis who is loosing his mobility and has a very old computer that is just limping along.

  15. Boy…I’d LOVE to win this prize! I would share it with the following:
    1. Local women’s shelter, so the women staying there can do job searches on the PC. River Falls, WI. USA
    2. St. Croix Valley ALC, this is the school that I work at, we are forever in need of PC’s for our students to work with. Stillwater, MN. USA
    3. Last but not least….my husband Dan, who works so hard and would enjoy a PC. Roberts, WI. USA
    Raven Flores

  16. I have four step children: each of them has children. One of the families has two children who use “other than Windows” computers. But one of the others has four boys who could well use one of the systems in Peshtigo Wisconsin. I’m part of a church who has a couple of less than privileged Families who could use one of the systems in Kingsford Michigan. And in her past profession, my wife and I knew through the schools a child/family or two who might be quite happy to receive a wonderful system such as the ones you offer in this contest Kingsford Michigan.

  17. This prize will be shared among members of the McCormack family. We are a group that is tech savvy and growing. We all have our own tech corner and this would change those corners into a tech circle.
    Swampscott MA

  18. Well, I never win anything, but I figure I’ll try.
If i did win I’d share with my family. Hannah my 10 yr old would love her own computer (club penguin and all), same for Aaron (who is addicted to Lego.com). The upgraded laptop would be fantastic as she’s now 100% mobile with having 3 kids. The final piece would go to my mom, who at 64 is twittering on facebook and using skype!

  19. I would give them to my daughter and grand kids because for years they’ve always got my hand me downs. It would be nice if they could all get new pcs.
And you wouldn’t have to make the trip ’cause it’s an almost three hour round trip from the airport.

  20. I would share this great hardware with my small private school (we’re always scrambling for tech money). My son, who works for a non-profit conservation group (His salary doesn’t give him a much money for tech) and my husband (the mini is just what he’s been looking for to use in his consulting business).
    San Antonio, Texas USA

  21. Jake —
I will be dividing up this little prize among some of my fav local charities for the holiday.

If I get the prize, i will keep 1 PC,printer and media connect and the softwares. Rest will be donated to my school and also will be shared to my friends and also my brother.

  23. I would share this with the 8 year old son whose mother, a very close friend of mine, is dying of three types of cancer and will not be around for him for much longer.
    Thanks.

  24. If I won I would share the prizes with my girlfriend who will be starting college soon. I’m currently in school struggling with a laptop I’ve had for like 4 years, so I know how much having the right, or wrong, tools can effect someone trying to keep up with a heavy course load.

  25. AAA Pregnancy Counseling Center:
    HP Mini 1000
HP Photo smart C6380 Wireless AIO (printer)
    HP 564 Photo Value Pak
The best cause I can think of! AAA Pregnancy Counseling Center provides support and planning for mothers to be, all completely free. They are solely run off of donations and in this economy, they are facing a shortage of donations. Another major part of AAA’s role is to go out and spend one week each semester in the local schools teaching abstinence. In this town, we have one of the highest number of STD cases in the country. AAA counselors work tirelessly educating students during the day and parents at night. AAA Pregnancy Counseling Center could greatly utilize the HP Mini, HP Photo smart Printer, and HP Value pack. Because they are on the move so often, their counselors could benefit from a Laptop, they could present power points and picture/videos at schools, while answering emails to those in need even when they are away from their desks. A printer would be another great device they could fully use. With many forms and paperwork a second printer could always be used.
Thanks-Giving Lutheran Church/Corner Stone Christian School:
    HP Touch Smart IQ816 PC
A fairly good sized church, under some tough economic times. After a survey finding that only 20% of the congregation donates money, the church is having a difficult time coping with paying staff and debt from a recent addition to the building. Wanting to reach out to congregation members while in the lobby, Thanks-giving Lutheran could greatly benefit from an HP Touch Smart. Allowing members to view the latest updates and sign in. During the week while not in use at the church, the computer could be used for the Small under-funded school that utilizes some of our classrooms. currently they have over 10 classrooms, and 5 computers; all of them being tan!
    Lutes (L-oo-ts):
HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC
    Kungfu Panda
    Office 2007
The Lutes, already having two children decided they wanted a third child. To their surprise Mrs. Lute became pregnant, but not with one baby, as she soon found out she was carrying 4! With six kids to take care of, Mrs. Lute stays home while Mr. Lute provides for the family. As you can imagine, 6 mouths to feed is a lot, and money is tight. With the quads now in 2nd grade I would like to give them an HP Entertainment Notebook Pc. As well as Office 2007 and Kungfu Panda. With four children all receiving the same assignments, computer time is precious and with the new addition of a Laptop and Office 2007 the children and Parents can all take their turn.
    Chris Harlow,
    Papillion, Nebraska, USA

  26. I would give most of it to our kids’ school, Shenandoah Academy. Their classrooms have only a couple of computers and most are seriously outdated.
    Cleveland, TN USA

  27. Ok, I’ll give this a try. My Nephew Charlie would really appreciate a new PC for Christmas. My retired father is using a 7yo pc I built for him, which is dying. My daughter could use a notebook. I’d donate the printer and Dvd’s to the daycare center where my wife works.
I would also like to make the touch screen a gift to a kid or family in hard times a Christmas to remember.
I just built myself a nice computer last spring and have no need for one. It would be fun to play Santa.

  28. I hope I am a winner, so that i could share them with my alma mater (my high school) Manning’s School in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica. The additional computers would add to the computerr lab’s offerings and allow for greater access to more students in the learning process. My 16 y.o. son would also be able to have his own pc.
    Johnathan Brown,
    Kingston 19,
    Jamaica

  29. Not sure how much, if any, I would keep for myself (though my laptop is a bit ancient and that touchscreen looks intriguing). Some would go to my nephew (the only non-raving Mac fanatic on that side of the family) and some to a school system in my area that took a huge hit in last winter’s devastating coastal storm. (Likely candidate, pending further research: Vernonia, a town which got all but wiped out.)
    John Donovan
    Cannon Beach, Oregon USA

  30. I’ll give it a go! I’d give the big laptop to my Mum for christmas.. the mini would go to my girlfriend who doesn’t like big bulky computers. I’d give the touchsmart to my grandparents and try to get them online. The smaller laptop I’d hold on to for myself for uni and I’d also keep the MediaSmart server and printer for home.

  31. This is how I would propose to distribute the winnings in the HP Magic Givaway if I were to be chosen:
1.) I would keep the touch screen unit myself and give my current desktop computer (a 2.6 Ghz Dell with lots of memory, hard drive, and a 19″ screen by the way, so no slouch unit). To our church librarian. I recently upgraded her old HP unit from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 with an upgrade version I had not ever used. I encountered problems with video and network drivers, but I got it working. My current compuuter would be a wonderful upgrade for her however, as the church is gong to have severe budget problems according to pledges promised this fall….
2.) The laptops and most of the software I would give to some refugee families that are members of our church. These families are from countries in Africa, and are trying to learn English and become productive citizens in their new home. The kids especially could use them to learn much about their new country, the world, and the English language. It would help them invaluably in school.
I am sorry, but I have neither a blog, nor my own website. I can point you to my church’s website at http://www.koglutheran.org. The site itself is badly out of date and we are looking at trying to get it upgraded. The calendar may show you that we are active, engaged and reaching out to the community and youth.
Thank you for the opportunity to enter!

  32. My son has always been there to provide the computer help for me. He works at the Child Abuse Center in Tampa. I would give him and my two beautiful grandchildren the other computers. Just a small way of paying back some of the generous help he’s provided over the years.

  33. Hi Jake-
Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest. Given that I already have a ton of stuff already, I’d like to share the prize with my grandson’s school, St. Isidore in Danville, CA.
I’d even come and get it all if Danville is too far for you to visit!
    Best regards,
    Jerry Kidd
    Danville, California, 94506

  34. Winning this setup would be an answered prayer! We are a family of five sharing one computer. The problem: I have a 19 year old going to college that doesn’t have a computer and only has access where he is currently interning. My 17 year old daughter is also in need. She graduates from high school in the spring and we don’t know what we’re going to do to get her one with college expenses for her right around the corner. I have a 7 year old that does math and reading skills online daily. My husband and our oldest son try to squeeze some time in on my laptop between everyone else! So, if we were to win, it would be shared with my family! It would sure lessen the stress of the line of people constantly breathing down each others neck to get their work done!!
    Thanks!!

  35. The current equipment that both my wife and I use is quite dated and needs to be replaced. So I guess the person I would share this with would be my wife…a greatfull special ed teacher who deals with visually impaired students. These items would help everyone involved.

  36. I am an American who works for an education foundation in Indonesia that builds quality international schools for wealthier Indonesians and then redistributes that money to build two other types of schools: ones for the middle class (where funding breaks even) and village schools (where all funding comes from outside sources because the families cannot afford tuition). These are in Indonesian villages and while they are staffed with high quality Indonesian teachers, they still have very limited access to quality resources.
I would use the Magic computers to help each school level to have better opportunities at a world class education.
I would donate one laptop to a village school so that both the wealthier and the poorer schools could exchange ideas, lessons, and friendships. This would benefit both parties as the village schools would get better access to content and the wealthier students would learn more of an all too often forgotten constituency: the village poor.
The other laptop could be a mobile computer, used in training all staff in new methodology. The Mini could be a field data gathering computer in the ecogarden we are building.
Finally, I would use one computer in my class, giving my students a jump start into 21st century learning; teaching them to be content producers, not just consumers. We would create kml tours for Google Earth, blog posts, and educational videos. We could then use those and other resources that the students and teachers create to pass down to the lower schools.

  37. I will pass some equipment to my church for use there. One laptop would probably go to my son – an aspiring college student. I’m not sure if I’d keep any of the giveaway except maybe the media unit for testing so I can show customers what they can do.

  38. I would like to share with my sister, who is in need of a PC since long back for her day to day activities and keeping track of her mail archives, photos, videos etc.. also connected with net, reading blogs, sending mails, reading mails from lot of subscriptions.. ( till now , she is sharing official PC for this).
    Thanks
    Jegatheez,Chennai(South India)

  39. I would donate almost all of the equipment to the Iowa City Shelter House, which houses our local homeless temporarily and also provides employment and financial consulting for these people. Just recently they won the re-zoning request to build a brand new facility in a more accessible part of town. All other financial obligations have been met to erect this new building, but this hotly debated problem has been preventing the construction. Most of the funds to run this establishment come from private donors. As a low-income person myself, it would be a great honor to give to this important and essential non-profit organization. We must be a steward for all of our citizens, rich and poor alike.

  40. When selected at random for the HP Magic Giveaway I will be sharing my “HUGE” prize pack with my family. The individuals and reasons why to follow below as requested:
Mother – HP TouchSmart IQ816 PC with windows – for her to use in her soon to be remodeled kitchen. This way she can look up new and exciting recipes online to cook as well as keep in touch with friends and family on email.
Father – HP Mini 1000 Series with Windows – he is retired and has never used a computer in his life and I know this will be a learning experience for him but this way he can learn to look up things online instead of asking me all the time.
Brother #2 – HP Pavilion dv4-1143go or dv4-1145go Entertainment Notebook with Windows – he has been looking to buy for a notebook for months this way he can save his money when I give him this one. He has been wanting a notebook so he can still do his office work while in their family room with his wife and son instead of being stuck on his desktop PC in his home office.
Brother #3 – HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC with windows – he is currently using a desktop PC that is close to 8 years old. He will love the freedom of a laptop to use anywhere.
Me – HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO – HP 564 Series Photo Value Pack – I’ve been needing a new copy/printer as my current one is a cheap ($24.99) printer only thats prints when it wants and not when I want it to. And with the upcoming holidays I will be able to print photos to cherish for years to come.
Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 – use this to update my current HP notebook.
Kung Fu Panda widescreen DVD – loan out to family and friends.
I look forward to meeting you when you hand deliver the HP prize pack.

  41. would keep the touch screen donate the rest to a local high school that has a computer repair program have already donated many of my own older systems to them. And as for most people not needing or having 4 computers in their home at the moment have 6 online a hobby gone awry teaching myself about networking

  42. I would share with my family. My husband needs a new pc his is 9 years old and makes awful noises. My brother in law is going to Korea in February to teach and it would cost alot of money to ship his desktop so he would get a laptop. My parents could use a laptop as well.
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.
    Conway, MO USA

  43. Ok let’s see, I’ll keep a laptop for me (probable the hdx 18), give the hp mini and the kung fu panda to my little cousin who has no computer. The rest will be given to my moms’ school. She’s a director of a primary school, who really needs good computer for the kids, so I think that will make them happy!
    Kostas Pappas
    Thessaloniki Greece

  44. I would share these great computer items with my extended family members including my wife, son and daughter and law and Mother. The reason I am sharing with my wife is because she is my best friend and life partner. The reason I am sharing with my Mother is because she is computer illiterate and needs to get in the 21st century. Finally I am sharing with my son and daughter in law because in June the imperialistic United States Police Forces unlawfully and without cause entered his residence and “stole” his computers.
    Scottsdale, AZ USA

  45. Not very unique or inventive, but I would share the win with my sister who has an old, way out of date computer that was built for her by a friend 8 years ago. She and her kids can barely get on the internet, print or do homework on the computer they have, it goes at a snails pace, if at all.

  46. If you were to award me the prize package, I would donate part of it to the library where I tutored kids last year as a high school student. The Kingsgate Library is a small, older library in a residential area where I live. There arenรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt nearly enough computers there, and while the library should undergo a renovation in the future (2010), it is likely to be pushed back because of the downturn in the economy.
As a tutor, having a laptop would have been awesome as a learning tool. In high school I tutored students from Pre-K to community college levels, and there are a myriad of tools online and on computers that would have helped me teach and tutor people that came to see me. There are tools that would help me teach the ESL, immigrant pre-schooler how to read and speak English, and tools that would let me help a 5th-grade science enthusiast that didnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt get the parental support and resources that he needed to keep him interested in the subject. The laptop could also be used by regular patrons of the library when not being used by tutors.
I would also donate some of the hardware to the high school that I used to attend, so that they could set up a decent media lab. That way, students would have access to high-powered computers for making media projects, instead of having to use slower computers that took longer and were more unstable (like I was forced to use as a student there).

  47. Thank you for hosting a great contest and a wonderful opportunity to “share the love”.
I would love to be able to gift a computer to my daughter who is working diligently in establishing independent functionality as a young, adult autistic. I would also love to gift a needy family through the Endependence Center (http://www.endependence.org/) a wonderful, local organization that has been instrumental in providing transitional services for my daughter and many other families with disabilities. Lastly, I would love to win a laptop for myself (we have one old, rickety desktop for our 7 member family) and gift a laptop to a co-worker & friend who is a struggling, single Mom. She and I are both hospital nurses who have promised to see each other through acquiring our degrees together (we’re enrolled together at Indiana State University’s online RN-BSN program) and this would be a blessed and useful gift.

  48. Have to go for friends and family … one friend suffering from depression, out of work, family … kids going to college

  49. G’day from Australia,
Thanks to you Jake, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft for this opportunity!
I would gladly pass on one of the new computers to Mountain Trails Adventure School in Wee Jasper, New South Wales, Australia because they run a large youth-at-risk programme totally on donations.
I would use one of the computers to replace our one here at home because our one is getting very old and unreliable and we use it for a lot of work for community organisations and our church.
One would go to a good friend of ours who cannot afford a computer of her own.
And finally, I would keep the last for my own use because i have always needed a laptop but cannot afford one.
While you are most welcome to drop in Jake, I will understand if you take a raincheck on that…
    Many thanks,
    Neil from Yass in Australia

  50. WOW – how I’d like to win! I participated in almost all of the HDX giveaways a while back, did some crazy stuff to try and win – but alas…I didn’t.
I’d give a few of the items to the Beth Levinstein Hospital (Raanana, Israel) which specializes in rehabilitating head and spinal cords injuries, I’d give them a laptop, all the games and software and the multifunction printer. Apart from that my girlfriend and parents sure need some tech upgrades so they’ll get some new stuff too.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter!

  51. I would share this with Lutheran Redeemer Crisis Center in Cleveland, Ohio. This church serves a large area of poverty, and in this way many people would be able to access the Internet.

  52. I have no intention of keeping any of the gear. My sole purpose in entering this sweepstakes is to provide three underprivileged children with a new laptop for Christmas (or thereabouts). One of the children I have in mind is named Anthony. Anthony is eight-years-old and lives with his grandmother in Stuart, Florida. His parents are who knows where. His grandmother works three jobs and Anthony spends the majority of his time alone. Anthony is a good kid and I believe this computer will be a way for him to free his mind and perhaps discover the outside world and something about himself. As naรƒยฏve as it sounds I believe in the power of technology to transform lives. Perhaps receiving this gift will be a life-changing event for him and lead to a better life. I remain hopeful for all of us.

  53. Great idea the sharing. I’d share with our community club, a non profit organization that provides a variety of programming for people in the community. I’m currently serving as the convenor for Basketball and we are slowly advancing the club using “technology” and some new hardware would help out a lot. I’d also be sharing with my family.
Thanks to HP and Microsoft for making the giveaway possible, and also thanks to Jake and the other bloggers for giving people the opportunity through their blogs and sites to win. Season’s greetings to all.

  54. I drive over the road. I’d use one in the truck. Use one in the home for my wife to broker loads. I’d share one with the present owner of the truck who is struggling to operate and keep his 9 trucks loaded. I’d share with my mother who wants to start an ebay business.

  55. I would share this computer with my mother who has a very old, very slow computer. She gets very frustrated waiting for things to happen with her slow computer and this would be a great gift for her.

  56. I would love to win these prizes … I will be sharing these prizes with the earthquake torn region of Pakistan… on Oct 08 2005, almost all the schools and universities were vanished in a blink of an eye … many of them still need fundings for proper computers and hardware… so I think it would be great thing for them.

  57. I would share this great prize with “Para los Niรƒยฑos”, which is a non-profit organization here in La Paz, Bolivia, that provides homes for kids that need shelter. You can see the website here: http://www.boliviaparalosninos.org/
I think they would like the computers because it would way easier to update their website so more people can see it.

  58. i would def. share with my husband and sisters. my husbands laptop is dying and my sisters would really benefit from being able to work from home and stay with their kids.
    thanks so much!

  59. Thanks for hosting this! Our church with a mostly volunteer staff of ten limps in the computer department on old Pentiums and a collection of personal laptops. Would LOVE to suprise them this Christmas with four new computers and peripherals for the office!
    Thanks!

  60. I would share this prize with my F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Team, Team 904. These guys could really use this high performance equipment for their web development, C++ programming, CAD, 3DS MAX, and media editing software. Right now the team is using P4’s for all of this, and they are just too darn slow! The team has also been primarily supplied by GM, but the sour economy in Michigan has severely reduced our funding.
This package would solve so many problems for us, and would impact many many more students in the years to come.
    -Grant Gumina
    Grand Rapids, Michigan

  61. I would share the computers with the local food bank, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team In Training. Both are worthy organizations that do a lot for the local community.
    Fort Worth, TX

  62. I would share mine with my best friend in Louisiana. She and her family lost their house a few weeks ago in a fire and she is having to start over again.

  63. I would share with my brother, my mother, and my local library. My brother and mother have computers that are almost as ancient as mine is. The tiny local library only has 2 public computers, which are usually booked – they can definitely use another one, even if it’s a tight squeeze.
    Lucinda
    Middlesex, VT, USA

  64. I am going to be giving this to my parents, William and Connie Hughes. They own and run small, struggling health clinic and the economic crisis isn’t helping them!
They are based in Elm Grove, WI, USA

  65. If I won the bundle, one of the laptops/notebooks would find it’s way onto my desk to help with the degree that I’m starting in the new year; at the age of 39. I would share the others with my family. My Dad, who is disabled and has a now aging PC would get one for definite. I would also give one to my kid sister and would give one to my cousin for her kids.

  66. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT IS RETIRED AND STRUGGLING TO PAY THEIR MONTHLY COSTS ON THEIR RESTRICTED INCOME. THEY HAVE A 10 YEAR OLD COMPUTER THAT HAS FAILED FIVE TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH ALONE. THEY STRUGGLE WITH IT BUT CANNOT AFFORD A NEW ONE. THEY WILL GET ONE OF THE UNITS. A CHARITY WHICH FEEDS THE HOMELESS AND POOR IN MY AREA AND DOES NOT HAVE THE EXTRA FUNDS TO UPDATE THEIR VERY OLD PC WILL GET ANOTHER OF THE UNITS. A THIRD WILL GO TO MY SON WHOSE WORK IS IN A FIELD HARD HIT BY THE RECESSION. THIS UNIT WILL HELP HIM ECONOMICALLY AND CONTACTS WITH HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

  68. I would like to win this package to be able to share items with the the San Diego Rockhoppers Walking Club. This club organizes 10K (6 mile) walks around San Diego County and is in need of computer equipment to manage subscriber lists, create brochures, maintain a web site for members, etc.

  69. I would be sharing with my mom for internet access,
and with my church that desperately needs a new computer for media presentations.

  70. I would start by giving to my daughter and granddaughter. My daughter is a single Mom who recently lost her job and is limping along with an antique PC. Job searching is of utmost importance now. My granddaughter is a high school junior, an A student, who is applying to colleges-in hopes of financial assistance. I would start there!
Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  71. I would give my parents the touchscreen computer, my little sister the mini laptop and kungfoo panda. The 2 other laptops would go to my cousions and i would use the home and student edition of windows for school work and other things. This will make all my family very happy!

  72. I would give one of the bigger laptops to my brother whose laptop seems to be dying out and is his only computer. I would keep the mini and touchmagic to replace my old desktop. Most of the rest I would give to me family and friends. I have one friend who would definately need a laptop.

  74. Hi, Jake,
Thanks for being part of this contest.
I spend the winters in Mazatlรƒยกn, Sin., Mexรƒยญco. There is an orphanage for teens about 1 mile from where I live. So far I have help to clothe the kids. Some of this equipment would be donated to Father Hogar’s Orphanage to further bringing these teens into the digital age.

  75. I have two families I’d be sharing this wonderful gift with (probably more poeple…but I wont know who just yet).
The two families have actually done so much for my family over the past year or two helping us with everything from taking us to doctors appointments to bringing us food when we’ve been so broke that we couldn’t even go shopping for ourselves. They have literally helped us in ways that you would think they were blood family…
I would absolutely love to share something this awesome withthe two families who have taken care of us for far too long. Shoot, we still cant stand on our own.
I am already subscribed (74 barb at g mail dot com)
was subscribed before but my email was disabled from RR because my husband couldn’t pay our internet bill so I’m actually using a friends computer ๐Ÿ™ (one of the families I plan on helping)…
I’m also following you on twitter: barbarabaker
    Thanks so much!!!!!!

  76. Sharing all round:
    The touchscreen to my wife who will benefit from less mouse stress;
    A notebook, printer & software to the Clearwater, Florida branch of the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA – a non-profit organization promoting health through Tai Chi;
And the DVD to friends with kids.
The mini and mediasmart connect would make my connections simpler.

  77. I would donate them to Strathroy Community Christian School in Strathroy, Ontario (Canada). They’re a non-profit school, and are currently running a very outdated computer lab. I’m currently working on a committee looking to gather up donations so we can upgrade the lab, and this would be a great way to start/boost the donation pool. Their current hardware is roughly P1/P2.

  78. Hey Jake,
I would share the prize with Habitat For Humanity, the office my wife works at. The system they have there is, in a word, appalling because all the equipment thay have is donated.
They do well with what they have there, but they would be much happier to have some new stuff that could run at least XP instead of gasp…Windows Millenuim.

  79. I would share with my family, we all use computers on different countries but use 1 for 3 users in each home. Also weร‚ยดre using old PCร‚ยดs, thus a new one would be great.
    Miami, FL USA

  80. Great idea … sharing the wealth. I’d share with our community center, a non profit providing a variety of programming for our community. Currently I’m one of the ones dragging it into the present technology wise, and the prize would go a long way to achieving that. I’d also be sharing with members of my family.
Thanks for all the great information, and the community that you help to provide. Season’s Greetings to one and all.
    Fred

  81. I would share the prize with a charity I volunteer for … some with the Equal Food Fund http://equalfoodfund.20m.com/ and some with the Heights Emergency Food Pantry as they both struggle to get the most help to the most people and are sorely in need of digital help.

  82. Hey Jake,
My wife has an aunt that could really use a new computer. She’s been looking for a better job, but her current computer recently died on her, and she really can’t afford to get a new one. It would be great to be able to give her a new computer with a printer and some software.
Thanks again Jake, it’s awesome that you get to be a part of this!

  83. I will first of all sell off my old Laptop, and give the proceeds to the brave Police Force (and others) who helped out during the recent Mumbai terrorist attacks. I am a resident of Mumbai and it was one of the most depressing and scary incidents I have ever had to live through. I shall gift the touchsmart PC to my mother, who is at the moment learning how to use the PC on our old Pentium 2 Desktop, which in my opinion sucks! I shall donate that desktop to a school that I teach at on weekends as part of a rehabilition programme (http://www.sharingcare.org/), which is a club at my College, where I am also doing my Masters. The HP dv4 machine, I shall give to my brother as a gift as he is still using a laptop gifted to him in 2001. The Mini, will be a gift to my retired Dad.
Cheers & Thanks in advance for this great opportunity!

  84. I have 4 kids, ages 16 to 25. My 25 year old is a stay at home mom of a 2 year old and a 2 month old. She could really use a new computer to start a work at home business! My 23 year old son has a direct sales business and a laptop would be awesome to help him with his business. My nearly 18 year old son will be graduating this spring and heading off to college to a new computer would definitely help him out. And my 16 year old daughter, could definitely use a new computer for all her music, she’s a singer, plays guitar and is learning piano.
My husband and I are youth leaders in our church and I do all the database maintaining and desktop publishing for the youth ministry. I will keep the printer ๐Ÿ™‚ The Kung Fu Panda DVDs will go to my grandson, nephews and niece.
    Thank you for this opportunity!

  86. I have a blog dedicate to the news about giveaway but my blog didn’t have give prize to the reader. So if I win I will make another contest at my blog and then I will share some of the prize I get as the prize for the winner.

  87. I would be giving the HP dv4 to my nephew. He needs one for school and my sister can’t afford to buy him one. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has the highest grade point average of his school! He is a good kid, a really smart kid and he deserves and needs a laptop/notebook for school work.
My niece would get the HP mini for helping her with her schoolwork. She doesn’t have any computer of her own.
I would like to keep the HP HDX 18 for myself. I have never ever owned a laptop and I would love one.
My husband would love the HP touchsmart IQ816 PC. The computer we are using now is a very nice two year old Dell that would get donated to a local charity.
I would need the HP Media Smart Connect if we have the computer and one laptop so I could finally have a “network”.
The printer and photo pak would also stay with us so that we could finally have an up to date setup that allows me to print out the wildlife photos that I take .
The videos would probably go to a local charity as well for use in one of the many raffles they have to raise funds.
I would never even think of selling any of these wonderful prizes. In fact I have won some things in the past that I couldn’t use and they alweays get donated to someone who needs them.
Thanks to all the sites and of course, HP for having such an awesome giveaway.

  88. This is such an amazing giveaway! I would share this prize with my grandmother for starters. She has been my best friend and my rock all my life, and I’ve always dreamed of being able to do something for her. I would also share with a friend of mine who recently moved to Paris. She followed her heart to Paris and got her heart broken. She’s under contract to stay there for a year, and she’s absolutely miserable. To top it all off, a month into her year long stay, her computer, her ONE way to stay in touch with her life, family, and friends in the States died on her and cannot be revived. I would of course keep a computer for myself because my poor laptop is one glitch away from death! Almost everything else would go to Big Brothers Big Sisters in my hometown. I live in a small town in Texas, and that organization needs all the help it can get!
    blogged it here: biddysworld
    twittered here: http://twitter.com/BiddyMcBidson/status/1031822047

  89. I would share with my oldest daughter’s kindergarten class and my youngest daughter’s pre-school class.

  91. Hey,
I actually haven’t thought about whom I would give the stuff to since I live by the motto “Jump first, they say HOP”. I don’t know whether that makes any sense but in my language it does. ๐Ÿ˜€
If I had to decide right now, I would give the TouchSmart to my parents, my dad who just got around to doing his Masters and my mom who spends quite a lot of time preparing for he classes [she is a highschool teacher]. They are both working with a laptop that is 8 YO and takes about 3 minutes to boot with 256MB memory. [Nokia N96 has about that much :D]
One of the laptops would go to my sister, while the other two I would ask my mom to arrange some kind of giveaway at her school whereby three or two best students from the first or last year would get the other three or two laptops as well as the Office licenses. The Media thing I really don’t know what I would do with that since I really don’t have an idea what that is. The DVDs and the Blue Ray would be given away to a library or something.
I think I would not keep anything to myself since I already have a perfectly good setup but this would be an excellent way to share the joy this holiday season.

  92. I would share this prize with my sister who is working her way through med-school. As one might imagine the cost to her and her husband is quite signifcant, especially in these tough economic times. I think one of the laptops and the printer would allow her to work on her terms, on her schedule at home so that she could see more of her young son.
I like the way this is setup. We really need to think about others more that we do. Perhaps this is one small step in that direction. Thank you.

  93. Hello from Agawam, MA, USA.
I would be sharing prize with family, especially cousin Linda who could really use a computer for job searches, etc.
    Thanks

  94. I will be sharing the equipment with various families from my church who are hurting because of the economic downturn. I will probably keep a new laptop and hand mine down to someone else. :^)

  95. I would share my prize with my church. We just formed in Jan. this year, so we are still new. I help out with all the technical stuff (including the website) for the church.

at risk of homelessness can relax,
socialize, have a hot home cooked
    lunch, participate in programs, access

socialize, have a hot home cooked

about technology. They might even decide to pursue careers in that field.
The Boys and Girls Club in my area.
The kids would love this. A lot of these children do not have ready access to computers and the internet. This would help them get more involved.

  98. This is such a nice prize package to win and I plan on sharing it with a friend. I will give away 2 computers and a printer to a friend that is married with 4 kids and just started going to school online. He can definitely use the 2 computers and printer for him and his wife because he can do his online school whenever time allows and his wife can surf the net or use the other computer at her leisure and I know his kids will enjoy the KungFu Panda DVDs.

  99. If I would win this prize pack, I would be able to help a family in need, as well as my own. First, a family that I work with lost everything they had in a fire, house too. Here at work we have been donating clothes, as well as money, but I really doubt that electronics are on the top of their list. So, two of the computers would go to them, as well as the printer. I need to replace my desktop, and I would send my older PC to my Aunt. She doesn’t have a computer, and needs one for e-mail and the internet.

  100. My older son is a learning-disabled honor roll student at St. John’s College HS in Washington, DC, US. He was in the school’s Benilde program, which provides support for learning-disabled students. The director of that program has expressed a need for a portable computer for the program, to be used as a loaner (for example, for class notes or to prepare a typed document or examination) or as an extra computer in the computer room reserved for the Benilde students. My winning this package would yield a computer for St. John’s Benilde students!
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.
    W. J. Fisher

  101. I’ll collaborate with “El Refugio” (The Refuge), an non-profit organisation helping homeless with meals and beds. They need new equipment for their records.

  102. I would share my good fortune with my family. My 13-year old son (he turns 14 on 12/3) really needs his own computer. My mother needs a new computer because all the grandkids use her laptop at home and have squeezed her out of being able to use it. My father-in-law really needs a bigger monitor because his eyesight is getting so bad that he can’t see his screen, even though I’ve increased the size of the fonts. Finally, my wife, could use her own computer so she doesn’t have to wait in line to read her email.
    Thanks,
    Billy
    Fort Worth, Texas, USA

  103. The extra computer(s) will be provided to a needy fellow graduate student in my department. My old laptop will also be provided to a needy fellow graduate student in my department; if one cannot be found, I will donate my old laptop to Michigan’s Reconnect Partnership. I had wanted to put a working but old laptop to use, but Oberlin College’s Oberlin Computer Recycling Program (OCRP) appears to have closed.
    Jonathan
    Kalamazoo, MI, USA

  104. I would share this with my step daughters who live over 3 hours away so we could emailand chat online, since we don’t get to see them as much as we’d like to since they moved away

  107. I would share the grand prize with my sister. She needs a computer to do her work at home instead of at school. Being at school all day from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. is very tiring and stressful just to be able to type and print your paper that is due the following day.If she gets a computer we can spend more time together. She would deserves it for all the hard work she has done.

  108. I would love to give most of these to my children for Christmas (or anytime for that matter…) Our current computer seems to be dying and having 4 teens fighting for it to do homework & other ‘important stuff’ just wears a bit old… I and my husband are both disabled so money is very tight. This prize is worth almost 3 months income for the home so there is no way we could ever hope to get anything near what you are offering. We would probably donate anything we don’t really need to another local family in need. (East Greenville, PA USA)

  109. I’d share this package with 2 of the ladies at our son’s daycare. Neither of them have PCs at home and have asked me to Google stuff for them a few times. I’ve already been looking around for parts to cobble together a couple of really inexpensive PCs, but this would be so much better!
And I’d use one of the PCs myself since the motherboard in my home PC died recently and I’m currently relegated to an ancient old loaner that one of the guys from work (thankfully!) made available.

  110. I have retired in Tequisquiapan, Queretaro Mexico. My Lady friend is a bilingual teacher in Monterrey, Mexico. She makes very little and has a 23-year old daughter that is two years away from graduating from college. Her little HP Laptop just crashed. I would give her one computer to help her finish her education.
I would give one each to a poor lady here in Tequis who has five children going to school. Her youngest daughter has many speech problems and her therapist has recommended a computer to help her form words etc…
I would give another to a man who works part time at my house and church…he has three children…just got indoor plumbing and electricity. He is a wonderful family man and his oldest daughter is 12. She has an artifical leg, is very smart and wants to learn the computer. I have let her use my little Gateway for her school work several times.
    Thanks,
    Bob Rayel

  111. I would gift the majority of it through a gift collection that my office is currently running. In association with Greater Philadelphia Case (http://gpcares.com), we are currently collecting gifts for 3 area families that have 6 or more children. I would likely only keep one of the computers for my own family (my wife is trying to get a home-based photography business off the ground) and give the rest to these families in need.

  112. Hi Jake,
Peachtree Community Church in Villa Rica, Ga USA could really use some updating of computer equipment. We are currently using about 4 computers that are probably 8 years old that were donated, they are primarily used by our volunteer staff and are slow (not the staff the computers) We would use the touch screen for a self check-in station for parents checking their children in. The laptop would be put to good use by one of our ministry leaders. The other items would be determined how to best utilize them to further the work of PCC.

  113. I am an international student from China. This is such a nice prize package to win and I plan on sharing it with a friend. I will give away 2 computers and a printer to 2 friends. One is my host, the other is a lady who is 40+. Because she can do his online school whenever time allows. As for the DVD I will give to the people from my church.

  114. I would enjoy one of the notebooks to replace my aging Compaq Presario notebook. Beyond that I’m in pretty good shape gadget-wise, and I would love to share the loot with my church’s elementary school.
    Indianapolis, IN
    USA

  115. I’m Becky Spell, in Murphy, TX, USA. I’d love to share the equipment with my daughter’s preschool, which is not-for-profit. They’ve done wonderful things with my kids, and I’d love to enable them to do more.

  116. I’d share this package with my parents. I’ve been trying to get them into the 21st century for a while now by buying them things like their first dvd player and digital picture frame. They’re probably one of the last homes on planet Earth to get cable tv. I gave them an old computer of mine but it’s starting to fall apart so I think they would love a new computer. Who knows, if they have a new computer maybe I can even talk them into getting the internet.
    Thanks

  117. I would share the prizes with my 2 teenage nephews. They have no tech toys or items at all. They really could use the computers. It as if they are living under a rock, In todays world technology. They need the tools to do well scholastically and scoially as well.

  118. I would share my prize with judi my neighbor because she is so nice. My address is mike anderson–po box 71–whitefield ok.74472 USA

  119. I would share this with my daughter and her family. In today’s economy they are really struggling to make ends meet.

  120. I would share it with my immediate family and one laptop would go to my Mother In Law who is fighting cancer.

  121. Well if I won I would give one of the Laptops to my Sister In Law. She is a Traveling Nurse and her Dell laptop needs to be replaced. Currently she is in Washington DC working in the Pediatric oncology area. I think about the line of work she does and it has to be a pretty hard way of life but she likes to keep in contact with her niece and nephew. So a new laptop would certainly help.
Another would go to WMFE (NPR) of Orlando. They are the local NPR station for Orlando. They are a great station and are always asking for help.
The last two would go to my wife and myself. My Wife is a fulltime mother and a fulltime student. She is working on getting her Nursing degree. I work Fulltime and I am a student as well. We used to have a laptop unfortunately it got broken in our last move. So we use the school computers at our schools respectively.
    Thank you for this opportunity.

  122. I would share this package with my girlfriend, who recently dropped her 3 year old laptop onto a brick fireplace while desperately trying to get internet service to work for her internet-addicted roommate. I myself would like a dedicated machine to handle all my photography needs.
    Stanford, CA, USA

  123. Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm a 74 year old resident of an over 55 adult community in Lake Worth, Florida. When our community was built in 2001 the builders, very nicely, provided us with a computer room with 8 desktop computers in our clubhouse. Due to the fact I had a little bit of computer knowledge, I was asked by our Home Owners Board to be responsible for the maintenance of the computers.
We have 1099 residences and a membership of close to 100 in our, very active, computer club. Some of our more knowledgeable members lead classes in the use of different types of software. Others introduce residents, which are new to computers, to the very basic aspects of Windows. When classes are not in session the computers are used by many residents to check their emails and to access other web sites that they are interested in.
You can imagine the condition that these computers are in, regardless of how much attention I can pay to them. We desperately need to upgrade and our members would be more than thankful to receive these wonderful HP laptops

  124. This prize would be so helpful to me because then I can help my family. I would love to give one of the those PCs to my dad. He’s worked really hard over the years. I know a new computer would help his life tremendously because it would make his engineering job much easier. I would also give one to my brother since it would help him out a lot when he goes to college soon.

  129. I would share this prize with my Mom, Dad and my sister. We do not have a computer and have always wanted one that actually works. We had an old computer once and it never worked properly and we could not afford to get it fixed so we dont have one. But what a christmas present this would be for my family.

  130. Hi I am a blind musician and am fortunate to be a working musician. If I won I would like to find another blind person who is trying to go in to business for his or herself and just needs some help. Technology is extra expensive for us since even when we have a computer, we still need to buy a screen reader to make it all work for us. I would check our State Services for the Blind or the local schools to find someone.

  131. I’m a paraplegic. I was injured December 25th, 1998, and spent three months at Craig Hospital in Denver, Co. I would share this wonderful gift with the people there. Many are far, far from home, and have the additional burden of not having their families with them. Tools like these would allow them to not only learn new skills, but to be able to keep in touch with their loved ones in a timely manner. The notebook computer would be especially helpful to these good people.

  132. I’m going to share with my wife and daughter. They both need new computers since they only get hand-me-downs.

My son Matt is a Junior at Illinois near champagne, while Ashley attends Northern Illinois in De Kalb, IL. the 3 of them can decide who gets the office 2007.
My grandson on the other had would love the movie. While the Media computer would be a great gift to my Son in law Jim here in Mesa, Arizona.

  134. I love the Lighthouse International, http://www.lighthouse.org/
They help those with visual impairments, both young and old. And, in
these harsh economic times winning high tech items to contribute to them would be phenominal!

  135. I would like to start of by saying thank you for this amazing contest. My name is Cristian Ballesteros and I live in Bogota, Colombia. If I win this grand giveaway I think I will put it to best use because not only will I use it but hundreds if not thousands of people will use the hardware as well. I am a 20 year old College student who is struggling, along with my class mates to finish our school work and assignments. At our College we have a รขโ‚ฌล“Compu Centerรขโ‚ฌย which in reality is a computer lab that is based of 15 donated computers to be used for school work for the College students. You may say well 15 computers is a lot. Not really when you consider the number of students whom attend College to be able to live a better life.
If I win this contest I will donate everything but the HP Mini (I will keep for myself) to our Compu Center at college. The donated hardware will be used by hundreds of College students and we will ALL be grateful for your geneirosity. If I win I will also contact local news channels to record and evidence the donation and to give thanks to you and HP.
    Thanks,
    Cristian B. Bogota – Colombia

  136. I would share my price with my local Library, which is passing through a crisis time and only have computers with DOS, and such that stuff.
About the software, I would share it to someone needing it, or, in the case I found no one intrested, I would update computers in my school, maybe.
I would keep the Desktop PC because I have a laptop, but my family doesn’t, so it would be useful to have a powerful machine here.

  137. Hi Jake,
Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขd give 3 laptops and the printer to my aunt and my grandparents for Christmas. Neither of them have computers at home. I want to do something to say thanks for all the generous support they provided over the years.
Thank you for the opportunity to enter,
City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

  138. If I were to win this package here’s what I would do.
First, my aunt and two cousins live from paycheck to paycheck. Mostly due to the fact that my uncle ran out on them and the younger of the two children is severely handicap due to a brain tumor. The older one is 13 and a freshmen in highschool. They’ve been given hand-me-down computers over the years, and my husband and I have helped out where we can, but we just can’t seem to get them a computer that is reliable. And as most with children in school know, classwork is becoming dependent on having an up-to-date computer at home. Two of the computers would go to them. One for my aunt and one for the older child to use for schoolwork, along with the MS Office and Kung Fu Panda for my handicap cousin. (They already have a all in one printer, otherwise they’d get that too)
Second, my husband is trying to start his own business which centers around helping schools make better use of donated computer equipment and thus make their budgets go farther. I can’t go into much detail as he hasn’t applied for his patent yet, but next week we will be taking the prototype into a local private school and setting up the system for free and they in turn are letting us use them as our testbed. The Mini laptop would definitely go to him for presentations and remote work, and the mediaSmart connect. The Wireless printer would also help us as well as the one we currently have is 10 years old ๐Ÿ™‚
The last laptop would go to our good friends that always seem to give more than have. I would love to bless them and their daughter with a new computer (as their old one is a hand-me-down as well).

    Jen.Cocagne@gmail.com

  139. If I were lucky enough to win this wonderful package, I would share it with a few of the hard working members of my family.
My husband could really use an upgrade, and we would donate his old system to the Big Brothers Big Sisters center in the neighborhood.
My mother-in-law’s computer just died, and she’s on a fixed income and can’t afford to replace it. This way she can continue to do all the genealogy, recipes, and stuff that she loves so much.
I would keep a laptop for myself so that I could continue to work on my business while watching my grandchildren.
The last one would go to my wonderful youngest daughter and her 4 children. The 2 oldest ones could really use it for school, and the little ones (4 year old twins) will be starting school soon. One of the boys is autistic, and this type of stimulation really helps him to progress.
It’s been a tough year for us financially, and this would make for an absolutely wonderful Chrismas!

  140. Jake, thanks so much for this opportunity!
I’d love to share some of the goods with some local organizations!
The printer/photo pack and one of the laptops + Microsoft Office would go to either the Paris Pregnancy Care Center or the Children’s Advocacy Center of Paris, TX. The other laptop or the mini would go to the other charity. So, both places will benefit!
I’d love to give my husband the TouchSmart (surprise him of course) since he’s been eyeing them for a long time and he’d love it for his web development projects!
The DVD’s would go to kids who wouldn’t normally get Christmas presents. I’d use the Advocacy Center to distribute these.
The only items I’d like to keep for myself would be the mini or one laptop (depends on if the mini can perform for everything I need, I have to look it up and see), and the media center.
City, State and County for the above organizations, as well as myself are:
    Paris, TX USA

  141. I would share my winnings with my oldest daughter. She just escaped an abusive marriage with nothing more than her dogs, the clothing on her back and her aging-over-heating-outdated-laptop. She then endured months of stalking, death threats and even an attempt on her life by her ex husband. Her only escape is a computer which she uses to keep in touch with supportive friends as well as falling asleep while Adult Swim videos play all night (the ONLY way she can fall asleep) We would also use some of the computer equipment and software to start the not-for-profit we’ve been dreaming of. it’s called Shelter Pets Rock and it’s an organization that’s goal is to drastically decrease the number of pets euthanized every year by educating children on the importance of proper pet care, adoption and spay-neuter programs. We believe that educating kids is the way to change future generations. This project is not only something we believe in, but it’s something that is helping my daughter survive this personal tragedy. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win and congratulations on being chosen as “one of the 50″….it must be such an honor!!

  142. 1 I would take because I need it for college chemistry even though im in 10th grade
2 I would give it to my step dad for college he needs one
3 I would give one to my mom for her work
4 I would give it to freind mike for schooling
5 for a home computer because our is being dumb and slow
6 I would give it to my physics teacher he needs a laptop

  143. I would like to share the majority of this prize with the Safe Harbor Shelter in Davis County, I think it would help greatly in providing computer access to women and their children who can’t be at home due to domestic violence, for job searching and schoolwork, and maybe even inject a little fun in their day.
It’s a charity that not a lot of people think about, but one of the most important. Their work is incredibly important, and very underfunded.

  144. If you were to award me the prize package, I would donate part of it to the library where I tutored kids last year as a high school student. The Kingsgate Library is a small, older library in a residential area where I live. There arenรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt nearly enough computers there to go around, and there’s always a waiting list to get onto them.
As a tutor, having a laptop would have been awesome as a learning tool. I tutored students from Pre-K to community college levels, and there are lots of tools online that would have helped me teach and tutor people that came to see me. There are tools that would help me teach the ESL pre-schooler how to read and speak English, and tools that would let me help a 5th-grade science enthusiast that didnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt get the parental support and resources that he needed to keep him interested in the subject.
I would also donate some of the hardware to the high school that I used to attend, so that they could set up a decent media lab. That way, students would have access to high-powered computers for making media projects, instead of having to use slower computers that took longer and were more unstable (like I was forced to use).

I would simply share this with my family. My sister is in need of a new computer to replace her aging Vaio desktop that has started to smell like a barbecue grill. She just graduated from university and started her new job and a laptop would be invaluable. I would give a computer to my mom who, please don’t laugh, is using a busted computer we found on the street. The hdd sounded like a maraca so I had to install Ubuntu on a usb flash drive. It doesn’t even have a case; its just a motherboard on a table! I would give my dad a laptop that he could use at the shop instead of having to wait in line to use the busted shop computer to run his Nissan applications. I would give the dvd to my little cousin and probably give office to a friend because I get it for free from school anyway. I think my Xbox 360 does the same stuff that the MediaSmart thing does so I would give that to a tech savvy person. Finally, I would keep the TouchSmart and printer for myself; hey, its Christmas for me too ya know, hehe.

  147. Hi, I would share this amazing giveaway with the NGO my father runs (www.akrofo.co.cc). At the moment I’m on a gap year (I deferred my university entrance to next year) and am working with my dad, helping him out.
If you head over to the NGO’s site above you’ll realize that quite a lot could be done to improve it! This would be one of the first things I would do. Apart from the conservation of the ecology, his NGO also travels to communities to record folklore/stories which at the moment are all orally passed down. Probably the most important work which he does is the production of herbal medicines which cure such prevailing diseases as Jaundice and Hepatitis-B (I live in Ghana). These alternatives are really needed because main-stream hospitals charge around $2200 and even more to cure them! (especially the Hepatitis). So, apart from the HDX which I was planning to start saving up on for uni, everything else would be donated to help him keep going.

  148. I would offer the gift to Shriners Hospital in Chicago or Philadelphia (whichever is closer for you :)). My son was born 2 years ago with a rare condition called arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. For Owen this meant multiple joint contractures, aggressive physical therapies and an expected 18-30 surgeries. Shriners has been amazing, they have covered the costs of all surgeries, offered us equipment at no charge and a support network outside of the hospital. We have seen doctors at both hospitals and I am forever grateful for their services. Both hospitals deal with many special needs and impaired children that would benefit from touch screen computers. Despite the many hardships the kids at Shriners endure, they are never resentful of situation, just grateful for the care at Shriners.

  149. I would like to keep the HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC because I have been wanting a laptop for a long time. The remainder of the prize package I would like to donate to St. Judes. I think it would be helpful for the patients and their families to use while undergoing treatments and make their lives a little easier during that time. The thing I love most about St. Judes is that “No child is ever turned away”; how wonderful is that. Here is some information on this great organization http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=589231 . Thank you for the wonderful contest and the whole idea behind it of giving to others. Have a blessed holiday.

  150. Hello my name is Arnold, Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm from Dominica it’s a small Caribbean island located in the Caribbean Sea. If I was to win I would surely put such prizes to great use, firstly I would give away the HP TouchSmart PC to our local Alpha Center a school for mentally challenged children, I’m sure they would put the TouchSmart to good use. Secondly I would also give away the HP Pavilion to our local library. Thirdly I would also give away the HP Mini to a local Grammar School new computers are always needed since they are the largest secondary school on the island. I would also give away the HP Photosmart printer and HP 564 Photo Value Pak to the main hospital located on the island, also the DVD of Kung Fu Panda is sure to bring excitement to the children in the hospital. Also the software that comes along I would also give it away to the other schools on the island. I would like the HP HDX Notebook PC it will sure come in need for me as I am continuing my education. The HP MediaSmart Connect is wonderful but on the island we do not have any form of HD devices so I am sure it would greatly benefit someone on your site who is willing to accept it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  151. I would give the computers to one of the elementary schools in my city which serves low income students of color, some of whom are homeless. Vandals burglarized the school and stole the computers. Unfortunately, there is not enough money to replace them, and these are the children who need computers more than the rest of us.

  152. I would share this prize with:
My husband who needs a laptop so he can use it for work.
My son who needs a laptop for work as he substitute teaches.
I would keep the touchsmart for myself as I could use an upgraded computer
The mini computer I would give to a needy friend.
The photo smart products I would keep for sharing family photos, etc.
The dvds I would give to my nieces and nephew.

    Richard from San Diego

  154. I would love to share this with my cousin, Regina. She is struggling to be computer literate ๐Ÿ™‚ This would be a great start for her to have a new and updated computer system. I would love to win this prize myself because I have an old system and still using win 2000

  155. I would give the printer to my parents since they have done way too much for me over the years and want to thank them and finally have joined the computer age with a laptop.
I would donate the computer to P.S. 298 in Brooklyn, NY. From doing research its a school that could use assistance and I know education is very important in order to move ahead in life.
And I would donate a laptop to P.S. 145 also in Brooklyn that needs a laptop (all info was from donorschoose.org)
The last laptop I would keep for us to replace one that we have that is getting a bit old.
And anything left I would also donate to someone/a group that could use it.

  156. I am in need of a new computer myself but I would donate it to the Patrotic Order of the Does a faterinal org. who sponsers “Are You OK” through the Odessa Police Department, Odessa Texas. The program software calls the Elderly and Home bound each morning and ask Are You OK. at a pre ditermined time. If the person answers the software hangs up after asking. If no answer a designated person or relative is notified so aid can be sumoned. If no designated person listed the Police Department send an officer to check. To date this has saved several persons lives who were unable to call 911 for help. The software and computer was paid for by the Does and the computer is quite old now, over 5 years I think, and needs to be updated. The Does also sponser several organiztions for the needy and seniors. Donating a new kitchen to Meals On Wheels and many other charitable programs. They would benifet as a reciepent of an additional computer to maintain their records and files on.
    Thanks Jack

  157. What a great assortment of components to one deserving winner! If I was to win I would share with:
1 – My brother and his family who currently don’t have a working computer and are unable to replace their old one due to the present state of the economy. They have three children in school and without a working computer in the household I’m concerned that the children’s education will suffer…I would certainly like to help them out. – Mesa, Arizona
2 – My father who is in his 70s and is trying to learn how to use a computer and is getting by with a five year old computer that’s on it’s last leg. – West Valley City, Utah

  158. Hi,
First of all, I would share one of the laptops with my wife. We are two young married students from Lithuania getting MSc degrees in the United Kingdom. We have only one 2 year old computer (which has started showing signs of breaking :/), and we are studying specialties, which require computers a lot – computer science and mathematics. Currently the only way we are solving this is by going to use University’s computers, which causes us to return home at 1am sometimes or freeze in the computer rooms :/
    Location: York, United Kingdom
Anyway, I would also give the big computer to my parents in Lithuania. They allowed us to try reach for a Western education and are supporting us very much. At home they have a 5 year old computer and a small TV. Such computer would bring a lot of happiness to them ๐Ÿ™‚
    Location: Kaunas, Lithuania
And lastly, I would share the gear with my brother and sister, who are also students doing their best in reaching the Western education.
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom and Berlin, Germany.

I live in vancouver, canada, where treatment, help, and support is available at no cost. I would share the giveaway with GRANDMOTHERS TO GRANDMOTHERS, through the STEPHEN LEWIS FOUNDATION, for the grandmother groups in sub-saharan africa.
These women, often sick themselves, are struggling to care for their very sick grandchildren because the parents have died of aids, often simply for the lack of transportation to a clinic.
The equipment would improve communications in a much more timely manner, and broaden their horizens, allowing them to feel more connected to the world, less isolated and forgotten.

  160. Hi, I’m technical so I do not need help with the setup, but a couple of my friends have been laid off in the last few weeks because of the economy. It has not hit as hard here as in many other cities, but it is definitely having an impact. I would give a computer to each of them, and they can use them in whatever way best helps them get back on their feet.
    Houston, TX, USA

  161. I’m Eyas Sharaiha, I live in Amman, Jordan, and here’s how I would use
the prize package if I received it:
1-2 of the PCs will go for the Jordanian Society for Protection from
Family Violence (JSPFV), a non-profit organization which my parents
are involved with. Since they’re in need of equipment, I’ll be giving
    away 1-2 PCs/Notebooks to them.
The TouchSmart will be kept at home and probably be hooked with the
TV. Since I’ll leave to college, it would be great entertainment to my
parents when the house becomes empty. To college, I’ll take one of the
notebooks to stay connected with family and friends.
I’ll give a copy of VideoStudio to a friend who’s serious about movie
making, creating short movies for the Jordan River Foundation
    regarding poverty, war…
I’ll give a copy of Kung Fu Panda for my best friend, a cartoon freak
who hadn’t got a chance to watch it yet.
    -Eyas

  162. I I would keep the HP Touch Smart and premium lap top and give the rest to the Catholic Charities in my area. Their programs range from feeding and clothing the homeless to teaching people to read. They REALLY need some computer equipment ๐Ÿ™‚
    My location is Henderson, NV

  163. I would keep one for myself of course. I’d like one to go to my Grandfather up in the Seattle area. His current setup is a mess and I would love to simplify his life. I’d like another to go to my friend down in Crystal Beach. He lost pretty much everything to the hurricane down there. The last one for my brother in Phoenix who needs a new computer.
    Jeff
    Austin, Texas

  164. I would donate the whole prize (save one laptop) to my local church for use with their many outreach programs. One such program is a daily preschool for about fifty economically challenged students who would otherwise be in a crowded daycare center. This first donation of computers will serve as the foundation for a computer lab within the school that would be used to have the children develop their motor, creative, and reading skills.
    Weston, MA, USA

  165. If I won, I would give one of the laptops to my nephew in Kansas City, KS because he recently had his laptop stolen. Then, I would give the desktop and a printer to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stillwater, OK. I was on their board of directors for five years and they were constantly working to get better computer equipment. If, for some reason, BBBS did not need the desktop, I would donate it to the humane society of Stillwater because who doesn’t love puppies?

  166. I would like to share these computers with my aunt, my grandmother, and my mother. My uncle recently died and my aunt has had a lot of trouble coming to terms. She is constantly on myspace, talking to her children and friends, but she has a computer that is 9 years old and it freezes and takes a long time to load a webpage. My grandmother is really sick, and all she can barely move. She loves to play games on the internet to pass her time. My mother uses her computer to store all her photos and videos she has of her entire family, but she is quickly running out of room on it. She can’t afford a new computer, and the one she has now is already old.
    Mathew,
    Anderson, California, 96007

  167. I would share it with my best friends because all of them need better computers and I’m the only one with hardware newer than ’01 and none of us are old enough to get real jobs.
    Andrew
    Collinsville, Illinois

  168. I would share the prize with my uncle, who could use a new laptop but can’t afford one, my sister, who could use a new printer for college, and a charity of which I haven’t decided yet (and you haven’t either). I am a techie, so I don’t really want any computer help, but if you want to fly out anyway, that’d be fine, but I think it would be much better if you took the money you would have spent on the ticket and the time you would’ve spent flying/helping and donated that to a charity of your choice in your hometown.
    Andrew C
    Ann Arbor, Michigan.

  169. The one person I would definitely share with is my oldest son who will be college-bound soon. A laptop is practically required nowadays and his PSAT scores tell me that young Mr. Nusbaum is not going to be swimming in scholarship offers.
I plan to give other items to charity or to families in need also, though I don’t want to name them in advance as there are so many deserving people/groups to choose from. They would all be in my local area of Hamilton, Butler and Angola, IN, USA. I subscribed with my hotmail account which is posted in the hidden field. Because your rules state I must post it in the body of the comment form, I will add that my account is jennifer228 for email. I sincerely hope that this information will not be harvested.

  170. I would definitely let my son pick his choice of the computers since he is now in 4th grade and his schoolwork requires internet research and typing up reports. He has been begging for his own computer!
I would then donate to the Make A Wish Foundation to fulfill some of their recipient’s wishes for this year.
Thanks for offering a wonderful contest!

  171. I would give one to my church, so they can keep the website updated and print bulletins. I would like to give one to a friend who does not have a computer. One to a deserving student who does not have one at home, maybe for a large family? Thanks to HP for this opportunity
    French Lick, Indiana, USA

  172. I currently volunteer at the local American Red Cross office, and once I get the package, I plan on donating a laptop and a netbook to the organization. I also plan on donating the TouchSmart to the special education department of our school, as I recently come to realize that that department is the only one in the school that does not have their own computer in their room.
    My name is Harry Yang
Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, US of A

  173. If I were to win, I would share with my sister (who lives 50 miles from me), my husband, my son, and my mother.

  174. This unforgive economy is harsh for everyone, but it is pretty bad in my area. I know some needy, but deserving people who need a computer, but can’t afford one. I would keep 1 computer for us, for my daughter who will hopefully be going to technical school. Templeton, PA.

  175. I posted a comment, then a follow-up and I no longer see my first comment.
Please delete this one if it’s a dupe….
Regarding your contest, I’d like to keep one of the laptops for my college-bound son; after looking at his PSAT scores, I’m not counting on any big scholarships to come his way next year.
As far as the other computers go, I wish there were 228 of them. I’d love to be able to donate to two local families who had recent house fires: one lost everything and has 6 kids, the other was already in financial straights and has MS.
We usually donate items to Angel Tree and the Boy Scouts every Christmas and we’d be happy to donate other items to them or to our school or community center. They are all in my local area.
My hotmail account is posted in the hidden field, but since you ask for it here, too, my account is under jennifer followed by the number posted earlier, then the account. I sincerely hope this is not harvested.

  176. I have volunteered with a local nonprofit, Rainbow Village, off and on for many years. The organization helps families struggling through domestic and economic crisis. They help teach life skills to parents during classes and provide child care for the kids; I’d donate these electronics to help the families learn how to use electronics –both to build skills, find jobs and housing, locate social services, and provide education and entertainment for the kids. I am in Atlanta, GA, the organization is in Norcross, GA.

  177. I would give a laptop to my aunt’s 5 kids to use. I would give the other bigger laptop to my father-in-law. My aunt’s kids don’t have any modern technology and aren’t allowed to use their mom’s computer. I think this would be great for them to use for school since they’re ages 4-13. My FIL travels all over the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico for his job. I’d love for him to stay connected to the family other than a cell phone. He’s always in hotels with free wireless but can’t ever use it.
    Marcia
    Barberton, OH, USA

  178. I would share with my family (3 young children) and church/school. Why? Because all this great technology would be a major asset in their education and entertainment.
    Norfolk, NE USA

  179. I would share the prize with several people. My wife for starters needs a new PC. My mother, to help with her small business. One for my buddy who is leaving for Iraq in February as a Christmas gift. And one for me of course. =)

  180. I would share with my local public sponsored radio station. Since they do not use advertisements, they do depend on donations of every sort…that means supplies, equipment and volunteer work in addition to money. They have an active program teaching volunteers about radio program production as well and news reporting.
    …Thanks….

  181. I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in a small town. I would give most of these prizes to a local community center in a needy neighborhood. They give food and a home to many in their town. Their computer center was burned down three years ago and they haven’t been able to produce the money to recreate it with the current economy and rising unemployed. Hopefully if I win these prizes, it will help them get a jump start into rebuilding their center.

  182. First, my husband and I won’t have to wait for each other to finish as the computer (since we only have one). But two computers would be sufficient. The others I would share with each of my twin sons, neither of who has a computer at home. What a great prize!

  183. First, my husband and I won’t have to wait for each other to finish at the computer (since we only have one). But two computers would be sufficient. The others I would share with each of my twin sons, neither of who has a computer at home. What a great prize!

  184. I would share my prize with my family specifically both sets of parents (biological and in-laws). They are progressing nicely with technology but still using older equipment. They are excited to learn but frustrated by the hardware they currently are using. The portability of some of the components would also benefit my wife with her mobile small business. Either way its exciting and I hope whoever wins enjoys the kindness and excitement everyone is providing.
    Clint Theede
    Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

  185. I’ll give one to my sister and brother-in-law. He’s in the Army Reserves, and they’re computer is dying and they can’t afford a new one. One would go to my best friend for her and her daughter because they can’t afford any. The other would go to my former boss because hers got stolen.
    Uniontown, PA, USA

  186. Living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I would share with the children in the local favelas (shacks, extremely poor areas). Every Christmas my family and I have gone into the favelas with candy and toys from the U.S (since they are less expensive) and given them out to the children there–it has been a bit nervous since we don’t exactly want to “donate” our car on christmas but nevertheless an amazing and unforgettable experience.

  187. I have three kids in college all at the same school and living at home. There isn’t enough technology or time for them all to be doing homework, projects, thesis, and I like “browsing” the internet myself. The possibilities are endless. I can tell you more if I win. I have no intention of selling anything. It is a definite need here. Thanks.

  189. My girlfriend is a teacher at a Title 1 school and I would want to share it with either the school as a whole or have a contest to give them away to students at the school. Probably the former, since that would benefit more students than just those within one family. I would talk to the school’s faculty to help determine the pros/cons of each approach.
FYI – a Title 1 schools is a highly impoverished school where more than 75% of the students are have free or reduced lunch costs because they cannot afford it.

  190. I would use this equipment for my son’s robotics team. They are a bunch of second graders learning Lego Mindstorms, and they only have one laptop to share currently. If I won, I would donate the equipment so that several kids could program the robots at once instead of having to wait forever while someone else is using the laptop.
Will give my full name via email, but do not wish to post it here, thanks.
    Kansas City, MO USA

  191. I would share with the local down syndrome organization and if they couldn’t use it I would share with the public school my daughters go to. The school has done wonders for both my girls and I would like to give something to them. And also to my friend I work with who is 70 yrs old and doesn’t have one at home and all her friends email her and she has to wait till she gets to work to read their letters.

  192. If I won this package I would admit to keeping a laptop for myself, but that’s only because I will be needing one next year in college. My family simply cannot afford to purchase one for me, especially since I’ll be needing one that can support large programs (such as AutoCAD) as well as support a wide spectrum of colours. The rest of the “goods” I would be donating to my home church, Prairie Creek Baptist Church, of 17 years. We’ve never been able to have high quality and fancy equipment, much less a fancy building, and just this year our church is finally getting updated. It’s quite apparent though that we’re on a super tight budget and I still don’t know where any of this money is coming from, but it would make me joyous inside to be able to contribute somehow to this milestone in our church’s life. The office area is still using ancient computers (no flat screen panels-how do they work like that?!), and other things that definitely need a face lift in the form of new HP technology. And hey, Kung Fu Panda was an excellent movie for kids, which our church just so happens to be rampant with, and the DVD could be some sort of reward of excellency in Sunday Schools classes. : )
    Thank you for your time!

  193. I would share with my two adult children. They both have ancient computers. One has only an 8G hard drive on an old machine. The other has a limited income because and has no money to buy luxuries.

  194. I would give at least one of the laptops and maybe also the media extender to a good friend of mine. He’s been studying IT for over 2 years and really wants to finalize his studies but he recently got into some financial problems and on top of that his PC crashed 2 weeks ago and it’s still in repair. The PC is also over 3 years old. Therefor I would like to give my friend a brand new laptop so he can continue his studies and hopefully find a nice job later on.
    Betekom, Flemish Brabant, Belgium

  195. I am a mom first, and a CPA second. I am having to go back to work thanks to the down fall of the economy and the stock market. I would share this with another CPA who I am joining forces with. We are doing a lot of work with non profit organizations here in Hailey, ID.

  196. If I were to win this prize, I would give most of it away to friends and family. I would give one of the laptops and the office software to one of my friends who really needs to get his old computer up to date. I would give the touchscreen to my mom. I would give the DVDs to my younger brothers. I would personally keep one of the laptops for college.
    Stockton,CA USA

  197. I live in the United States, in Oneonta New York. I would give my father the netbook because he is very enthusiastic about them and is planning to get one soon. I would give my good friend one of the notebooks because his current computer is terrible and i would also buy him a wireless router to go with it. I would give the “kung fu panda” to the local salvation army, and probably the mediasmart connect as well.

  198. I would give a computer to my friend who uses a Windows ME computer with 64MB of RAM and is unwilling to get a new computer because he thinks that Windows Vista sucks and that Windows ME is superior. Then, we can play games that require newer versions of Windows. I would give another computer to my mom, so I can get her more acquainted with technology. Finally, I would give one to another one of my friends who gave me a computer when my computer died as a result of a hard drive failure, which was overworked since I was running Windows XP too little RAM.

  199. I’m planning a funeral for my equipment. This is more than I could hope for, and then some. I just have to win !!!

  200. I would share the prize with the local homeless shelter here in Raleigh, NC, USA. The homeless surely could use the computers to search for a job or the admin staff could use it.

  201. Woodstock, GA USA
I would donate equipment to “Our Chinese Daughters Foundation” whose mission is “To provide the highest quality Chinese culture programs, orphan support programs, and publications to adoptive families, support organizations, and educational institutions serving the wider community.”

  202. I would share it with a local family medicine doctor that I know. As a fourth year medical student about to begin residency I understand the importance of technology in todays healthcare world. A paperless system would be a huge asset to this individual and his practice and would help him provide the best care that he can to his patients. Thanks.

  203. Kenton, Ohio, USA
I would share this prize with my family and cousin Mike. I would give the best laptop to my cousin Mike he could really use a good mobile machine because he wants to be a comedian and could really use a good machine to edit video on. I would give the smallest laptop to my family for them to share along with the Printer, Media Connect, DVD, and Printer value pack. The rest i would keep for myself for schooling. Im currently a junior high school student that goes to this vocational School for Information Technology along with my cousin Mike and could really use some good equipment outside the class room to increase my knowledge and creativeness so i can become a better student.

  204. Jake,
Thanks for hosting this contest! I sent my entries to the newsletter address (the only one I could find!) But I included everything in this post as well.

    2. If I won the incredible HP prize pack, I would share it with Healthy Marriage of New Mexico (http://healthymarriagesnm.org) which is an organization that works to strengthen marriages. ย This is done by giving couples tools to help with communication, conflict management and other common stumbling blocks that can create difficulty in marriages. ย Healthy ย Marriages of New Mexico is a faith based initiative that is currently looking to expand its operations out of Albuquerque* into the southeast corner of New Mexico. ย

  205. I live in Reno, Nevada, USA. If I win this competition, I will share the goods with my roommates. We are all college students using sub-par electronics and would LOVE to upgrade our systems. Thanks for providing this opportunity for us!
If I had the power to donate in a large sense, I would gift these computers to the survivors of the Darfur genocide that went unnoticed these last few years.

  206. I would share it with a local family medicine doctor that I know. As a fourth year medical student about to begin residency I understand the importance of technology in todays healthcare world. A paperless system would be a huge asset to this individual and his practice and would help him provide the best care that he can to his patients. This family doctor is in Lapeer Michigan, USA. Thanks.

  207. Well I would share the extra stuff with some of my other poor college friends who have computers almost as bad as mine, and probably family members since I am too poor to buy Christmas presents this year I was just going paint everyone a picture, but I am sure they would rather have a fabulous HP. I live in Lacey, WA, USA.

  208. Good Day!
I would share the computers with my extended family as they are using rather dated equipment. If I go south this winter, I would take one to leave there as they are in desperate need of technology.
    Thanks,

  211. I would share these computers with cousins from Mexico. They dont exactly have the ability to buy such computers, or even a Windows 98 one. I hope that in the case I win, they may be able to get a better education. Many teachers think that all of the people have access to a computer, but that is not true. I hope to win for them. I want them to have this prize. They live in Saltillo, Coahuila Mexico. I live there as well, though I am on vacations on Houston.

  212. What an amazing giveaway. My daughter needs a computer for school work & I need a laptop for my work at home business, that is struggling. I’d love to donate a portion of this to Second Hand Rose. They help out victims of domestic violence. They are located in Mt. Clemens, MI It is such an amazing charity, that I’d love to help out!

  213. Jake, Our church just built a new youth building. And we could use the computers and equipment for them. It would help a lot.
    Thank You from James

  214. If I won I would share my prize with the local YMCA daycare Academy. They run an excellent program -my son attends but I have noticed that they are in need of new computers. This is the least I can do for a program that makes quality daycare affordable for all people. Ellenwod, Georgia.

  215. I would share the prize with Meeks Pro Tech High School in Portland, OR. I mentored a FIRST Robotics team from the school last year. They performed very well for a rookie team. However, all of the computer work had to be done by students with personal laptops since the school machines were too old to run the software.
Here is a talk about the school and FIRST: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_vFMUFzSZI

  216. I would share with my family and probably donate one or two to my school, which has no money and had to give up electives.
    Miami, Florida, USA

  217. I would give the equipment to my nephew, who is having a hard time since losing his dad. He is quite the kid at 16 years old and he will most likely let the disadvantaged youths he is mentoring use the gear also. He said he wanted to teach reading and computer skills to adults to are illiterate or need help in computers to find jobs or make resumes. These electronics will go along way to help educate a multitude of needful people.

  218. I think were I to win, I would definitely give one item at least to my mother who nearly went insane raising us four (and sacrificing the ability to become as successful as WE have in the process). I’d also donate something to the local children’s hospital – which doesn’t get nearly enough money (and working for the organisation that runs it, I can say that for a fact!) and rarely gets the chance to actually get something nice for the kids.
    Waitakere, Auckland, New Zealand.

  219. I would share the prize with my adult children and their children because I believe in today’s world having and using a computer is very important and will become even more important in the future. I would also give some of the computer gifts to my grandson’s elementry school which is located in San Diego, CA,USA. My daughter and other grandson live in Kalispell, MT, USA.

  220. hello,
One of the laptops would stay with me (Lenox, MA USA) to replace my aging used 8 year old PC (lets just say it takes over 12 hours to run a mcafee virus scan, you get the picture). One would go to my son. One would go to my church, which is located in Lenox MA (USA) and is called St Helena’s chapel (www.sthelenaschapel.org). I would also sent a PC to my Aunt in Bristol VA (USA) who runs Holly Help (www.hollyhelp.org). This is a spay/neuter/animal rescue organization she runs, by applying for grants, doing recylclable can drives and by donations. The PC would be used for the organization.
Good luck to all. great contest.

  221. There are millions of orphans worldwide. Many loving families want to open their hearts and homes, but are unable to pay the high adoption costs. However, imagine seeing the glee in a young girl’s eyes when she seeโ€™s a brand new computer for christmas. Not just any computer, but one of the most expenisive and powerful one out there! For this holiday season, I would like to change one childโ€™s life and show them that there are good people in the world. I may not know who you are, but I still care. Being a orphan must be one the hardest things to go through in life. The HP Magic giveaway can help me suceed and help fullfill a childโ€™s happiness. I have lived a good life and realize itโ€™s time for me to give back to those who are in need. I am 19 years old, and many of you would expect, โ€œOh heโ€™s going to keep everything and sell itโ€. That would be wrong of myself to do that. I have a lot of things that others canโ€™t afford and I would love to donate it here in Philadelphia. As for the other prizes, this, however can be my only chance to express how thankful I am to my best friend, Li. For this Hoilday I would like to surpise him with a brand new computer. This would make his holiday the best one ever. As for the HP HDX18, I will need this laptop once I live on my own in Chiago next year. I will give the HP MediaSmart Connect to my brother for Christmas, so can enjoy playing his music, viewing photos and watching videos on his HDTV. I will use Corel Ulead Video studio Plus since I enjoy creating anime and music videos. The HP Photosmart will be given to my mother to print out our family photos instead of going to Walmart to develop them. Microsoft Office 2007 would replace Microsoft Works so I can have professional looking projects and essays. The prizes can really make a difference in many people’s lives besides mine but I will understand if I do not win. However ,it will surely make a lot people in my family very happy for me if I did win. Good Luck to everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thank you,
    Javier Arroyo

  223. I would share one of the computers with one of my five children. They all have different needs. I’d ask for their preference as to the item, and then have a drawing to determine the winner.
    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  224. I will share this with my Mom and step Dad because they have always wanted to have a laptop each of them I already gave them one but you see whats the problem =) . They are both from Miami, florida and have work all their life around computers we are all originally from Cuba. I would also like to share part with my Dad and Sister both of which still live in Havana, Cuba. I have no words to describe how awesome would be that. I’m student at Georgia Institute of Technology located in Atlanta GA.
    Thanks,

  225. I would donate two of the computers to two of my best friends. One is a college English major who will next year try to write his thesis on a 5+ year old computer that was barely keep up with his typing. The other recipient will also be a college student who is currently struggling to run Photoshop (or anything else for that matter) on a four to five year old laptop.

  226. After my family of seven, I would share my winnings with the high school where I work as a math teacher. We are in desperate need of some upgraded machines! Our district is slow to distribute “new” computers to the ones that need it the most – the teachers!
    Go Woodland High School!
    Cartersville, GA

  227. My son would get one computer – he is studying programming. Every year we do an angel tree for the local Cerebral Palsy Group Home – I would definitely like to send some of this package their way or possibly My Backyard which is a non-profit after school program in the community that has done wonders in keeping the local kids from just hanging out on the street and getting into trouble.

  228. To be honest, I’ve never really thought much about what I would do with such a prize but I do know that it would be impossible to keep all to myself. I definitely would share a good proportion of it to someone who needs a computer.
Now if I did win it, I would probably give one of the computers away to a family friend that doesn’t have a computer. I would also like to donate another computer to an organization that could either make us of, if pass it on to someone in need of a computer.
You have to be in it to win it so here’s my best attempt.
    Jonathan from Dunedin, New Zealand

  229. Our local public high school could really put these computers to good use. They are always in need of extra resources and computer hardware and software that is up to date would be a fantastic addition.

  230. Hi! I currently work with my father’s NGO.
The NGO is made up of several sub-units. Firstly there’s the ecological part for which he travels around Ghana taking pictures of ecological sites and so forth. Then there’s the unit which is involved in the collection of folklore and stories which at the moment are mostly still oral and passed down from generations. Probably the most important part of the NGO is the herbal medicine one. This unit basically produces medicines from plants/roots. These herbal medicines help cure such common ailments as Jaundice and Hepatitis-B and are an essential alternative to main-stream cures which cost around $2000 (for Hepatitis-B).
At the moment the Folkstory section of the NGO and the Ecology part all share one computer. The folkstory section would probably function more effectively if they had laptops since at the moment they have to write down everything (they work in communities which often as not don’t have any electricity). They would be able to use the PhotoSmart to print out these stories into leaflets. I would also be able to revamp and maintain the site linked above using the TouchSmart.
All in all, getting this giveaway would increase the productivity of his NGO. Apart from the HDX, which I was planning on starting to save up for (for uni next year) I would donate everything else to his NGO and the videos would go to my younger cousins.
Sorry for the double submissions! I realized I must have submitted the first one using my hotmail account (they are all the same apart from the post-fix.. @gmail)

    Teshie, ACCRA- Ghana

  231. I would share one with the OAA Worship Center in Madisonville, TN USA. They need a new computer for video editing.

  232. If I was lucky enough to win this prize I would be so, so grateful!
The first person I would share with would be my beautiful 11 year old daughter. She wants a laptop of her own so badly for Christmas, but there are just no funds for such a gift this year. Right now she shares with me this laptop which is very outdated and slow.
I would also love to be able to gift my best friend Jacque with the printer and a laptop. She runs a daycare and always has so many wonderful crafts and projects she does with her kids. Her current computer & printer are in bad shape, and I would just love to be able to give her a gift I know she would so appreciate, and her daycare would really benefit from.
I would also like to donate some of the items to my children’s former school, Immanuel Lutheran in Washington, Mo. for their dinner auction. When my kids attended there we had help with tuition and this would be a wonderful way to pay some of that back to them.
**A bonus for YOU If you select me, is that I will arrange a free stay for you at the beautiful resort that is near my home, when you come to deliver the prize.
You can take a look here..http://www.lostvalleylake.com/
Thank you so much for the opportunity!

  233. Dear Jake,
Thank you for allowing me the possible opportunity to share the gift of computers with others. I would donate one to the local chemical dependency treatment facility, Cornerstone, in Rhinebeck, NY, USA where the counselors spend too much time using the phones rather than a quick e-mail.
Also, the local independent bookstore could use one to upgrade from tracking their current inventory on index cards kept in boxes.
And one could go to my nephew in foster care who would benefit from a laptop to do his high school homework and hopefully college applications.
Best wishes and good luck to all.

  234. I would give one computer to my son, because he’s just starting out in school, and it would help him a lot. Whichever one is best to edit video I would use to help a local tv show that I’m a big fan of. They’re struggling to stay on the air, and they keep losing editors. This would give me a home edit system to help them out.

  235. I would share the hardware with some friends of mine who have a 12 year old son that recently underwent surgery for a failed liver, leaving them in a very bad place financially. They’ve got to send their other son off to college and he needs a laptop…I’d give them everything but the touchscreen, my mom has recently expressed an interest in computers and I know she would love something easy to use like the HP touchscreen.

  236. Oh the places you’ll go,
    HP computers, I know,
    If I get my way
    With my entry today…
    I wish on a star
    That the computers go far,
To reach kids and their kin
    From Ohio to Beijing…
    Oh how could it be
    With computers of three!!
    And laptop for me,
    Please listen, you’ll see.
    I know a place
    And it has the space
    For families, 37,
    To call home, this heaven…
    The Ronald McDonald House,
    Is just the place,
    Here in Cleveland, Ohio,
    And it’s filled with grace.
It’s “home” to families of cities and towns
    And states and far counties
    And Earth’s countries around…
    The people have come
    From far and near,
    To have a child treated
    In a top facility here.
    Each computer at the House,
    With its monitor and mouse,
    Will connect to the hometown
to friends new and old, now…
I would be thrilled with a laptop, too,
To chat with the folks to see what I can do,
    Linda Peters, Director of Volunteers,
Is the lady to contact, she really cares!
    Please consider the reaches
    Of computers, like this,
    To promote love and friendship
    For families,…. my wish.
By Elsie Brockett, in Eastlake,Ohio, USA
(inspired by the writing of Dr. Seuss…oh the places you’ll go, HP computers…)

  237. I would share with my local school, Sabina Elementary and with family, friends and neighbors, and would also give laptop to cub scout leader so he does’nt carry all the boys paperwork and projects around with him all the time, gosh this is really exciting thinking about all the smiles and happiness this could bring in these trying times, thanks for a great giveaway and good luck to all of you

  238. I have several reasons for wanting to win, first of all is wellโ€ฆ I want some new gear! I canโ€™t lie about that! Will is on Medicare/Medicaid and suffered from meningitis that caused encephalitis when he was 15. This left him quite a bit on the slow side. He cannot drive and has issues with his balance. His computer is one that he was given about 5 or 6 years ago and is painfully slow. I know heโ€™s expressed interest in a new computer, but he simply cannot afford one. Third, I have a laptop, and itโ€™s not bad as far as specs. Itโ€™s running Vista, has a core2duo processor, 2GB RAM, 17โ€ monitor. Itโ€™s still very fast. If I win, I would want to keep the Touchsmart, HDX 18 and the MediaSmart. I will give away my desktop computer to Will and my laptop, the DV4 and netbook and printer to three needy families (who could benefit from the tech) in my area. This needy family would be decided by the local United Way, Salvation Army and my church, Grace Episcopal Church.
As for what the tech would be replacingโ€ฆ
The Touchsmart would replace my desktop, the HDX18 would replace my laptop, and as stated before, my desktop goes to William, my laptop, the DV4, netbook and printer go to three needy families in my area.
I would love to be able to go with an official from the United Way and Salvation Army and my church to the home of a family and see the look in their eyes of such an incredible gift. Itโ€™s not been something Iโ€™ve been able to do my entire life and I would love to feel that Iโ€™ve truly made a difference in someoneโ€™s life. Isnโ€™t that what Christmas is all about?
    Thank you for your consideration!

  239. KHT NWFP Pakistan

These are a lot of computers so I will share with my brother who needs it for school and I will send one to Edhi Foundation (http://www.edhi.org) which is a non profit social welfare organization in Pakistan. One of their service is running Destitute homes for orphans and run away kids etc. It will be of great use to them.
My e-mail address I have entered in Mail option above. Don’t want spambots to harvest by putting it here :p

  240. This is an awesome contest.I would share with my family.I have a sister who is in need of some hardware and my parents need some also.My sister would also love it.
    Thank you so much.

  241. I work as IT guy at Malaysian Buddhist Institute, a small non-profit institute, offering free education to about 100 or so students. Yes, it is small, but we are all like a big family.
Our funds come only from donors. The students do not have to pay a single penny to study. All the books and materials are supplied to students for free, and those staying at the hostel only pay a nominal amount for food.
Our computers are all hand-me-downs, donated by big companies that upgraded their PCs when they upgrade to the latest technology. We just had our graduation recently, and we shot tons of videos. Unfortunately we do not have the necessary equipment to process the videos. The prize will be handy! The notebooks will be useful for the teachers to use in classrooms. I gave up a higher paying job about 4 years ago to work here full time. We need the prize so much!
This is the site: http://www.mbi.edu.my. It is in Mandarin though. Sorry! It is located in Penang, Malaysia.

  242. I would give my friend Jann some of the items, because she has gone through so many health issues lately. She deserves a happy Christmas. Burlington, Ontario Canada.
Would love for you to come to Canada!

  243. I would share with my grandson, who is an honor student in high school and needs a computer to keep up with his studies.
    thanks,

  244. I would share the prize with two organizations and one family.
BirthMom Buds mentors expectant mothers and mothers who have placed their children for adoption. They are a unique organization.
Child’s Play donates games and computers to children’s hospitals around the world.
Our neighbors are the nicest people you’ve ever met. They’ve had a hard year, and they just deserve something nice to happen to them.
    ~ Robyn, Antioch, CA USA

  245. I would give this amazing hardware to my mother, she had a stroke a few years ago, has been declining since and never owned a computer – it would help her in so many ways. She has always done everything for me and others my entire life and I would love to give something like this to her, I would give one to my children to help them with their education/schoolwork and I would give one to my local church – they have done so much for me as well especially when my mom got sick and I had trouble paying the bills. I would really love the chance to give something back.
    Williston, FL

  246. I would give the computers to my brother and sister as Christmas gifts. My sister is studying Chinese and wants to work with children in China after graduating. She has a learning disability and uses special software on her sluggish Compaq laptop that reads text to her as well as Rosetta stone software. My brother is getting ready to apply to colleges and would benefit greatly from his own laptop. The main family computer is an old beige box that can no longer be upgraded. It is incredibly slow and frustrating to use.

  247. Without a doubt my wonderful wife. She has really struggled to build a home for us while I build my career, and she is in the unique position of being a writer that does not have regular access to a computer. I think the look on her face if we are fortunate enough to get this offer will be my best Christmas present ever

  248. I will give 2 notebooks, 1 to my cousin who never owns a computer before and the other 1 to my niece who will be starting school next year. I will be keeping the HP mini 1000 as its convenient to me whenever I travel. Next, I will give the HP TouchSmart to my Mum and she can start learning to use computer (she has a hard time controlling the mouse). Lastly, the MediaSmart, printer and software will be given to one of my sisters where she can print photos and enjoy watching videos of her 2 years old daughter.
    Singapore, Singapore

  249. I’ll share the prize with a Down’s syndrome hostel in my town. They give shelter to a lot of kids, and their funds aren’t enough sometimes…

  251. I really could say world peace like miss world contestants say and tell you, how i would give it a poor kid etc. But does a kid who doesn’t have food to eat need a computer. So i have other ways to help them which i am doing.
I really would love to try you this new computer. And i like the way Hp are going with this stuff.
Hope i win it will make this big guy happy which in turn could make small child even happier when i help them.
    prasanth, chennai, india

  252. I’m a sophomore Information Technology student here in the Philippines. First of all, the wonderful hardware could help me a lot with my study. To be honest, at least just one of the laptops would make me the happiest student.
I would like some of the hardware to go to the local church (United Pentecostal Church) here in Palompon, Leyte, Philippines. The church really needs a new computer for doing things for the glory of God.
I would also like some of the hardware to go to my sister’s family in Hansen, Idaho. Their daughter will be celebrating her second birthday this coming Christmas (December 25); it would be a perfect gift for the whole family.
With the spirit of giving, one hardware would surely go to a friend, who I personally know, is worthy for having one.
I promise I’ll put all those wonderful hardware to good use.
    God bless everyone… Thanksโ€ฆ

  253. Great idea about sharing the gift !
One of my cousin have his 17th birthday the 6th of December and she has no computer and would love to get one.
This girl teaches me many important things in my life and I would like to thank her for everything with a laptop but can’t buy one myself for her.
I would like to share the gift, not only to one person and not only to family.
I currently work at “Universitรฉ catholique de Louvain” and I think it should be fine to find 1 or 2 young students with no money apart the price for their studies.
They could get one price at their own choice.
The mother of my brother’s girlfriend is working in a Hospital.
I think that it is a good idea to ask her for a christmas for a young boy or girl spending his/her life in the hospital.
And another gift could go to a client of my physiotherapist who gave me strength and self-esteem when I was half-paralysed.
I spend my time helping everybody about computers and I like sharing ideas, knowledges and hardware.
I have already given about offered many things to people who I care about.
I try to always be there for everyone, and I hope to be someone nice for them.
I’m from Belgium, and the city is Velaine S/S in Namur (province, no state here).
The other persons are also from Namur and Auvelais (the hospital) and Louvain-La-Neuve in Brabant Wallon (as province).

  254. Hello There,
In case I win I this contest I would the HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC, HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction, and Microsoft Office 2007, to Job Sudakar, a good friend of mine who is doing his PhD in Cancer Research at Sankara Nethralaya, Eye Hospital, Chennai, India. He joined for PhD about 6 months back and is badly in need of a laptop and cannot afford to buy one, since he borrowed money from me to pay for his educational fees.
I would personally like to keep the HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC, since I quit my job two months back to become a freelance graphics designer and currently I do all my work on a two year old Pentium IV machine, it would make my work easier especially when dealing with clients.
    Regards
    Arpit Jacob

  255. This prize would benefit the local Foster Care Board in my county, plus the Northeast Texas Heart Gallery. The Heart Gallery has pictures and videos of children in foster care who are free for adoption and need a good home. The NE TX Heart Gallery is based in Tyler but covers the whole region. The county board is in Bowie County.

  256. My father is a great & hard working man, he’s also into technology since… I don’t even know, forever I guess. But he doesn’t seem to be getting the love back. And this year I wish I can give him something special
My name is Kareem el Buckley & I’m from Cairo, Egypt.

  257. I would use all the equipment to upgrade my small business — a recording studio my wife and I operate … we need new equipment for graphics work, audio engineering, and business correspondence.

  258. Jake,
I would share the prize with my wife, son and grandson who are all in need of better computers.
It would make for an outstanding Holiday season for all of them (and me too!). My grandson is in

    West Jordan, UT USA

  260. My daughter and I have a blog, who’s mission is to empower and educate women. My daughter, a starving certified personal trainer, would be the person that I would share this fabulous giveaway with, so that we could continue our mission.
    Thanks for the fabulous opp!

  261. I would share with a school in West Africa set up by and for victims of forced evictions that desparately needs resources.
    San Mateo, CA, USA

  262. I would share my prize with my local church. They are in need of a new computer/laptop to drive the PowerPoint for the Sunday morning service.
    Decatur, AL, USA

  263. I would for sure give it to a Nursery School, who has been asking to help them get different quotations from different dealers for the past 6 months, the pc they are using is totally outdated and i’m not sure even if run, i think one of them still uses a typewriter for letters. I would also give a laptop to one of my friends i know him since childhood, he really cant afford one. then the reaming i will hand it out to other who are in real need, Hell yeah this is gonna be one awesome Christmas.
    thanx
    Peter Franco

  264. I do a lot of volunteer work and the laptop (an old Tobshia someone had given me) was broken when I fell down my apartment stairs last week. Needless to say I am like a boat without a rudder. I have been using my daughter’s macbook when she is gone but I can’t take it with me to Volunteer meetings or to event sites. A new computer would be a major blessing, I can’t give money to these worthwhile non-profits but I can offer myself and my time and part of that has been my ability to help out with letter writing, spreadsheets, one-sheets, press releases etc that I have always been able to do on my computer, so I would keep one of the computers
I would give some of the hardware to Miss Iyes who teaches animation art to HS students. She has to use her own equipment and some was stolen. because of her my daughter got a full summer scholorship to CalArts and now wants to continue to get her degree in animated arts. We need more teaches like her to inspire others

  265. I would share my prize with Visiting Nurses Hospice in Rockford, IL. They could loan out the equipment to families so they can better stay in touch and create memories.

  266. I am a 5th grade teacher at Parkview Elementary School in Eagle-Mountain Saginaw ISD in Northeast Fort Worth Texas. I have heard from 3 out of the 12 parents that I have already conferenced with before Thanksgiving break that they are in such financial crisis that their children will do without anything this year.
If I were to be the lucky recipient of your prize package all of the technology and equipment would be used to benefit the students that I teach. I would supplement the classroom that currently teach to make sure that I am able to effectively teach the students and make them responsible citizens, as they are the ones who will be taking care of you and me in our aging years. I would continue to use the technology in my classroom to benefit these 88 students and the future 5th graders that I teach. After making sure that the classroom was effective, I would love to make sure that the families that I have heard from that are struggling to get by have a Christmas for their children. Regardless of whether I win this or not, I will still do the latter; however, this generous prize package would allow me to reach even more families in need. I hope that you will consider me and my students when you make your selection for your winner!

  267. I am in Maui, HI, USA. Would share with my two son’s who both have serious medical conditions. The oldest has CF and is a senior in HS. The youngest has Neurofibromatosis and is in middle school.

  268. Most of my friends and family have computers that are slower than my smartphone processor, so, I would give them all away except for the printer (I need a new one.)

  269. Thanks, Jake.
Since the prize includes many great items, donating and giving away part of the prize is a great idea. I would give one PC to my step-daughter who lives in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and has always only had hand-me-down PCs that I’ve rebuilt for her. With a new baby and no job at the moment, she’d be thrilled with one of these computers. A charity that I give to every year is a place that my wife worked for when we met, before she moved north with me. I would give them one of the computers, the printers and the software and DVD. That organization is the Op Shop, run by the ARC of Harrisonburg/Rockingham in Virginia. It would be sweet to be able to be one of Santa’s elves to deliver such an awesome gift. ๐Ÿ™‚

  270. I am in Murrieta, CA. If I were to win I would like to donate computers to my local school district (MVUSD) for use with special needs children. My special needs older son is in high school and only recently finally got a laptop from the school with the specialized programs he needs. I would keep one for my younger son who also has learning disabilities and a need for a computer and give the rest for the use of other special needs children in my area.

  271. I would share this with my local elementary school to help underprivileged children, and one computer would go to help my son, who has learning disabilites. Kerri Reed-1905 E. Marshall Blvd. #219- San Bernardino, CA. 92404 United States

  272. I would share it with my sister (and her family) as they cannot afford to buy one. She currently has a “hand-me down” running Windows 98. Her two daughters (one just entering her teens) would benefit the most from this.
    Sundridge, ON, CA

  273. Hi my name is karissa gindling. I am in Indianapolis Indiana. Wow, first let me say this is a wee hard of task because I wanted to call folks and see who needed it the most, but I didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up either so I didn’t make any calls.
Who I would love to give a laptop and touchscreen and printer to is a local battered women shelter. I know they need computers so they can start looking for jobs and can even have online training through courses such as offered at Familyeden.com. These homes really are only gateways until they can make it again, usually with children on their own.
I be honored if I could have one of the laptops to give my brother, Jeremiah. He is supposed to leave for Iraq at some point in late 2009, but I know this would make his day. And he is such a stand-up guy he truly deserves it. (I can say that I have 3 other siblings I don’t want to give one to!)
The last I would love to keep. karissag at gmail.com

  274. Hello.
I’m from Brazil, and I would like to share the prizes this way:
To my girlfriend, one notebook. She is becoming a Biology teacher and will need a notebook to prepare her lessons and carry her documents.
To my church, the mini notebook. I’m a teacher there (of teenagers) and we need a notebook to organize meetings, prepare lessons, and project slides.
To my mother-in-law, the printer and photo pack, since she’s a photographer, and it would help her a lot.
To my little cousin, that has toxoplasmosis, the movie.
To the vicitims in Santa Catarina’s flood (http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/11/24/brazil.deaths/index.html?eref=rss_topstories), i would like to donate the media smart through my brother-in-law, who’s working at an agency that is hellping the victims.
The computer and other notebook I would like to keep, because I’m coursing Computer Engineering, and my computer can barely do the tasks that the course requires.
Thanks, and happy giveaway / holliday!

  275. I am in Greensboro NC. Our YWCA is going broke. They were unable to make payroll. I would like to donate the computers to them to use with their pregnant teeen program. I also want the computers to be used for their marketing capmaign so that they can stay open. They are an important part of Greensboro NC’s civil rights history and have always been a bridge builder in race relations.

  276. I never won till now and trying my luck with hope everytime. Let em try for one more time ๐Ÿ˜‰
If i will win, i will use the part of the prize for my future web application development and rest i will donate to Devanar School, Hyderabad for children education who can’t afford to buy such costly things.
    -Mahesh Shah
    Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India

  277. I’ve been coveting the HP Touchsmart for a long time.
The other three (!) computers would be used for a Charter School that we are fighting to open in our local school district for special needs children.

  278. I really only need a Laptop for my daughter. I just read the other people posts. I think I would give you Jake the rest to divide among all these people that have posted so many great posts.

  279. Knoxville, Tennessee, United States
For as long as I can remember, my older brother David has supported me and led by example, giving me all the advice and help he could. Even now when I’m in college, he’s been eager to help drive me places or give me a place to stay. He’s working a low-paying job now, and he can’t afford an up-to-date computer to replace his old failing desktop (which I donated to him years before). I’d love to be able to give my older brother an amazing new desktop and laptop for a Christmas present.

  280. By winning this wonderful equipment I would put it to extraordinary use. I would finally be able to help my school in designing advertisements, banners, and more. The touchsmart computer would definently be a keeper, but the mini computer I would probably give to my school so they can share it to students like a library book. The dv4 notebook would really cool to give to my brother. He always wanted a laptop but never had the budget to buy one. The HDX notebook would be mine ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’d be able to play all the games I’d want!! And for the printer, I have a good idea. Since I have 2 at home already, I’d like to create a school printer with it so everybody could print colour and not toner B&W. I hope I win… I can’t wait for the draw. Btw, my brother’s name is Jean-sebastien and my school is Vanier. I live in blainville, qc, Canada.
    Thanks!

  281. If I were named the lucky winner of this fantastic giveaway then I would share it with Pastor Pansy Bradshaw of LA. She has recently opened up a much needed food bank in the Covington, LA area and is in dire need of a good computer.
Pastor Pansy saw a huge void in our city after Hurricane Katrina and decided to do something about it. She helps families in need, regardless of income.
I just donated a large lateral filing cabinet to her last week and would love to surprise her with this one.
Thanks much for the generous giveaway.

  282. I would share the prize with my parents who are missionaries in Thailand for use with our church there, Light Baptist Church in Tak, Thailand. It would be very useful for the ministry there as my Dad teaches computer usage classes in order to teach the Bible. It would also be useful for making videos for teaching Deaf people at our church. Thank you!

  284. I am in Grand Rapids, MI USA. I would like to share the prize with two non-profits, an organization that my mother works for, The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, and an organization that my girlfriend works for, The Michigan Campaign for Justice. Google them to find out more!

  288. Hi,
My dad could also use a computer. He doesn’t know how to use one, but I would take the opportunity to teach him myself!
I would also like to give one to my son’s school – Kids R Kids. The computers the kids are using in the classroom right now could really use updating. I think all the classes could benefit from it. I would also give them a copy of Kung Fu Panda of course!!!

  291. I would be able to share the package with my family, mainly my sister, who is an English teacher currently living in Yangsan, South Korea. She does not have a computer to use at home, and I would love to be able to communicate with her more often over the internet.

  292. I live in Clover, SC and I would be able to share the package with my family, mainly my sister, who is an English teacher currently living in Yangsan, South Korea. She does not have a computer to use at home, and I would love to be able to communicate with her more often over the internet.

  293. I will donate a computer to the local food bank to be used as a fundraising item to help feed local families. The money raised from this project would provide hundreds of meals.

  294. Since my youngest kids received new PC’s just last year, I could use one of the PC’s in the bundle to upgrade my own personal PC, which is only 5 years old. The other computers in the bundle would be a godsend to the Jacksonville chapter of The United Way. My office is an active supporter of the United Way in Jacksonville, FL, USA, and I would make sure that a new HP computer was delivered to the Success By 6, Full Service Schools, and Achievers for Life programs. The touch screen monitor would be a great addition for the Success By 6 program!

  295. My family has recently moved apart, with several hours between us. I would give each of my brothers and my parents one of these computers so we could be better connected to each other – I’d buy some webcams so my parents can watch the grandchildren in kamloops!

  300. I would love to share this with my friend Megan. She lets me come over and take advantage of her printer to make our crafts together:)

  301. Location: Westfield, IN, USA
I want to share this prize with my high school robotics team, the TechHOUNDS. The DV4 laptop and the Mini 1000 series laptop along with the printer, ink, Corel Video software, and the Office 2007 software would go to them. They deserve it for getting me interested in robotics and engineering, which is what the organization, FIRST, which they are a part of, is all about. The hardware will replace aging Compaq Armadas that we have been using for program and CAD design. The team really deserves it as we haven’t been able to set aside money for laptops with the expenses of running the team.

  302. I would share with my sister-in-law, who is disabled and cannot work a “normal” job. With these tools, she could do word processing or call center work as she is able. Thank you for the chance!

  303. I would share my prize with my cousin and his girlfriend… While it doesn’t sound like much, my cousin has always been there when ever I needed a good laugh or just a talk. He is attending college to become a medical assistant, so I know this would really help him on his goal. He really is a great role model and a father to both his kids. I know my story may not sound as good as others who are willing to share their prizes with an organization helping kids, or a simple town church/school, but its the truth. If I knew someone who was less fortunate than me, or just happened to be going through some tough times then I would gladly give that person the computers, that includes everyone else who posted here trying to help someone else out.
I wish everyone here could win.
    Max Estrada.

  304. I would share with my family, I have a lot of young nieces and nephews that don not have the funds to buy new computer equipment.

  305. I would share with my wife. She just started graduate school and needs a computer here at home and a laptop to use at school. This would be perfect!

  306. Hello. I would share the computers with two organizations in my city: my local church, who is badly in need of updated computer hardware and software, and a local missions organization I associate with that is dedicated to drug and alcohol recovery, Mission Missouri. Can’t think of a better way to spread some Christmas cheer to those organizations!
    Best regards and Merry Christmas!

  307. Wow, what a wonderful prize, thank you! I would give one to my sister in law who does medical transcription at home so her pc is her paycheck and I know that she could really use a new one but just can’t afford it. I would give one to my son who is 21, and will be moving out on his own soon and could use a home pc especially when he goes back to school. I would then like to keep one for myself. My brand new Dell was hit by lightning and fried, so I have an old laptop now..lol. Lastly, I would want to contact our christian service center that helps struggling families and try to find a family that could benefit the most from a new pc and then give the last one to them. Thanks again for the opportunity and good luck to everyone else as well. Merry Christmas!

  308. I’d give one to my brother Jim in Oahu, HI, USA, to make it easier to stay in touch with his daughters who’ve moved to TX and CA.

  309. The HP TouchSmart IQ816 PC would go to my father-in-law who recently had a stroke and is unable to move his left side. The touch screen would be ideal for him.
The HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC would go to my grandmother who is now widowed. I think she would find the Internet very interesting.
The HP MediaSmart Connect and HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook PC would probably stay with me.

  310. i will share it with my younger brother, who would really appreciate a laptop right now, and my parents, since they are using some pretty out-dated computers. I probably would also give a laptop to a friend.

  311. I would donate my prize to http://www.healthspaninternational.org/ Its mission is to improve health care in developing nations at local levels through relationship building, education, and technology in the developing worlks, While some NGO”S talk about it, HSI does it on a very limited budget..
And the out comes speak for its self, in fact I was so impressed with HSI, I sit in the board of directors..
    Bob Pyke

  312. I would share the equipment with my wife’s school. They are a small catholic grade school that does not have a lot of computer equipment and what they have is older models. I wold also donate the equipment I have that the new system is replacing.

  313. Hi, Jake.
My daughter, her husband and their two children will be here in Roch. NY, USA for Christmas this year — the first time since they moved to Minnesota 4.5 years ago. My son-in-law’s 5 brothers and 1 sister are chipping in to pay the costs of their trip home.
Because my daughter has to take frequent business trips, having the HP Mini to take with her will make it easier to stay in contact with her family while traveling.
The computer my 15 year old granddaughter was using broke so having a replacement would certainly help her in school.
Since our TV doesn’t have a digital converter, it will be unusable come February when the Congressional mandated change goes into effect. So, the touch smart and receiver would certainly come in handy.
The Rochester School for the Deaf would greatly benefit from the printer and some other extras.
(Pay it Forward: “3 people helped each day, “paid forward” by each person helps 4.7M people in two weeks.”)

If I were to win the contest I’d be using the TouchSmart to replace my TV. The HP mini would be used for travel and the other notebooks would go to my cousin for college and also to my girlfriend’s sister for college. The printer I would give to my grandmother since she usually asks other people to print out various things for her.

  316. If I was selected to receive this gift I would give away one of the laptops to my girlfriend for college and one to my cousin because his was stolen from him. Also I would most likely give away the movie to my girlfriend’s little brother because he loves that movie.

  317. I would share the prize with the Bell County Council on Literacy in Middlesboro, KY. This is a wonderful organization which works with adults in the area to help them eventually obtain GEDs. They have a lot of hard work to do, but they have to spend a lot of time trying to arrange grant funding. They always need updated equipment, so this would help them out tremendously!

  318. I would give a laptop to my friend who has already had to take out 2 loans for college and I would give the desktop to my cousin for Christmas because he’s been begging for one for years.
    Fort Worth, Texas USA

  319. I would love to give this to NLA Youth Outreach program! The kids who are picked up on a van and brought to the program instead of hanging out on the streets! They could use a few computers to allow the kids to have a place to do some homework, research or just play games!
    Morgantown, PA (outside of Philadelphia)

  320. Honeoye Falls, NY USA
What I would do with all this hardware if I were chosen? My daughter in her first year of college would get the HDX 18 Notebook PC, a copy of MS Office, the printer, VideoStudio software and the Kung Fu Panda video. I sent her off to college with a very old notebook I got from a friend. My mom would get the Pavilion dv4 Notebook to replace her old Gateway desktop machine and a copy of MS Office. My roommate would get the HP Mini 1000 so he can stop using my computer to check his e-mail. I would keep the TouchSmart PC and the MediaSmart Connect and the last copy of MS Office. My old computer would be given to my friendโ€™s daughter for her kids to use. All this hardware would make my friends and family very happy this Christmas season.

  321. I’m already well setup with gear myself, but would love to share this prize with the students at Cole Elementary in St. Louis. My brother-in-law Johnathan is the art teacher there and as an inner-city grade school they are continually struggling for money and resources. I have no doubt they could put much of this equipment to great use in ensuring these kids are both computer literate and learn how to express their creativity with great technology tools.

I would probably give one of the computers to my neighbor, since they need a replacement badly. The Mini will be going to my loving wife.

  323. I am really enjoying your site. Informative articles are always nice to find. Sometimes it is hard in the tech fields to put in the time to “relearn”. A very necessary aspect of a good tech though.
    Thank you for your time,
    Bill

  324. My wife and I would enjoy sharing the prizes with our daughter and grandchild. I know with both of them going to school they can use the help.

  325. I would share (well, more like give it all to her) the HP gear with my fiancee who is a mother of 6 with her caring for 2 of mine besides her 4. She has recently taken on a career change due to Fibromyalgia and is wanting to open a home based document service where she will besides doing a regular document service she will do reduced cost documents for those in need. She’s done a great thing raising her kids as a single mother. I am very proud of her and inspired by her drive even through the rougher cold days. She’s currently attending Corning Community College for a Liberal Arts and Science/Humanities and Social Sciences, AS degree. She could use most of it for her business and it would be a great help and an awesome Christmas present.

  326. First of all I am going to be honest, my computer is not in great shape and I have 5 children who would love to play games on a better computer. I would like to play on a better computer too, so I will be keeping the desktop and a notebook for my children to do homework etc and stop the fighting around here. The rest will go to a neighborhood school, they are severely underfunded as most of them seem to be, and most don’t even have computers at home. This should help budding computer technicians, programmers, etc! This would be Verdigris High School.
    Tulsa, OK, USA

  327. I’d share with our grandchildren who already are using computers in their classrooms. They could use this equipment at their homes to help them do research and homework.

  328. If I win the contest, I would probably give the touchsmart system to an “adopt a family” at my husband’s work. I would probably keep one of the lap tops and the printer, so I could print up awesome pictures of my baby for the family, and then give the other 2 lap tops away to two girls I work with at church who are graduating from high school this year.

  329. I would share my prize with Castlegar Community Services in Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada (where I live).

  330. Hi my name is Alvaro Bonilla, Iยดm from El Salvador, but right now Iยดm on vacatios at Indiana. If I win this contest I would take all to El Salvador, and I will keep for me the HP HDX 18t Premium series, beause Iยดm in my last year on college so that will be a very helpful to me. Now to help others the rest of the package Iยดll give it to the university where I go, that is Don Bosco University, is one of the best of my country, but as you know that is a third world country, so we have only the basic things, because over there we donยดt see this wonderful technology, because is too expensive, many of the people make $200.00 a month so if very difficult buy something like this. As you can see in the picture, that is one of our rooms dedicated to asignatures that need to use a computer, but as you see those are very old computer, we are talking that are IBM and most of all are Pentium II, pretty old, and I know that this package isnยดt enough for all the students but I know that will be something that they can use for asigments that needs a powerful computer or notebook, and will be somenthing that will give them a lot of enthusiam by see this technology that is way far from our pockets to buy. But Iยดll put one condition to them, that everything will be only use by the students, or to teach, because I donยดt want that any staff of the university will take it for them, and I know that all this equipment will serve to them a lot, and all those thing will be a useful tool, and will do amazing things for knowledge, So help me, to help them!

PD: Iยดll be in Indiana until January 15 but if you can send it to El Salvador you wil help me with my baggs, because I think those things are heavy, but if not, Iยดll figure it out. Bye!

  331. If I were to win this package, I would share some of it with 2 of my brothers-in-law. One is getting ready for college, so a laptop would be extremely useful. The other just started his own business and he could really use something to organize and keep up to date records with.
    Ogden, UT 84403

  332. This prize is just amazing! Thanks so much to Jake and HP for this chance!
If I won, the first person I would share this with is my boyfriend. He runs his own computer repair business, and he needs to upgrade some of his equipment, so this would be amazing because it would save his small business a bunch of money, in addition to just being a wonderful gift for a geek! ๐Ÿ™‚
Then I would give the printer to a friend who doesn’t have one but needs one.
Kung Fu Panda would go to a nephew. ๐Ÿ™‚
I live in Seaside, Oregon, USA. Thank you again for hosting this giveaway!

  333. I would share it with a local appeal called secret santa – what a present that would be. I would also share with a local school where my wife is a governer. Lets face it, schools never have enough money.

  334. There are many organizations that one of these computers would be a great help for, one I might consider is one I’ve contacted some work the Children’s Grief Center. Mostly though, I believe charity begins at home and with family. I would likely share it with my sister or my sister-in law or both. Or maybe even all three. Then again, there is also my best friend’s family who have been so supportive my entire life…so many choices. I love the idea of sharing a gift though.
I do like the idea of the touch smart at home, we would have many uses for it, work, school, writing…photagraphy uploading… and the mini for travel to family far away from here. I guess I would just need to talk to friends and family and see who needs it more!

  335. Hi I am juno from India. I would like to share the gifts (laptop) to a small orphanage near my village. This laptop will help them to minmise the digital divide in this fast paced world.
    Regards
    Juno Samuel

  336. Hi, Jake! I would like to congratulate you for what you are giving away. I know that this is done by HP and Microsoft, but that means you have done something to win their confidence.
Should I win the HP pack, I would be more than happy to share them with a bunch of people. I am part of a student programmers team that struggle to make an open-source on-line platform for managing all the tasks in a University (course-ware, papers, schedules, official-papers, talk-groups – all in one), making all of them easier for both professors, secretaries and students. From this team, two of us don’t have laptops and it’s getting pretty hard to work together in the same space and although everybody could work from their home, it isn’t as easy as working in the same room, sharing ideas and code. ๐Ÿ™‚
Another laptop (as there are 3) I would give away to my advertising crazy girlfriend as a Christmas present. She works a lot in Photoshop, Illustrator and CorelDraw to build her prints and her pc is so old that she can hardly open one of these programs at a time, without doing anything else (like browsing the net or reading something). I really think she deserves a new pc because she is really talented in what she is doing (you can see one of the sites that she contributed to with graphics here). There are more of her works, but they aren’t on-line anymore.
I can’t serve you an emotional story, because it’s not the case. But these prizes will make three people able to follow their dreams. Also, this can be called an investment in talent. Creativity comes in many shapes, whether it’s code that helps thousands of people (the University on-line platform) or advertising and campaigns that bring new ideas and concepts to several more people.
Thank you for the involvement and for your precious time!
I can’t do more now but to imagine their faces if I could make them these presents so please help me to help them.
    Sincerely,
    Radu
    Bucharest, Romania

  337. I have four children and 10 +1 grand children. All of my children are just starting out and variously studying rearing young children of their own and having the typical struggles that life presents to young couples these days. Although they are all resonable technicaly save to a more or less extent they mostly use hand me downs from dad ๐Ÿ™‚
I would share the prize and the units they may replace with my children. I know how important it was for my children’s education and development to have resonable IT equipment at hand and in addition to the entertainment value it will aid in the grand children’s development.

  338. I would share the computers amongst members of my family and my daughter’s program for people with intellectual disabilities.
    Melbourne, Australia

  339. If I win I would share the prize with the Community Services Village located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. They operate a food bank and provide literacy programs, essential skills training, educational support and other services.

  340. I Live: Brisbane, QLD, Australia
    why I deserve this package.
The simple answer is I donโ€™t. Iโ€™m still a student and I have not income at the moment. Iโ€™m trying to start my web design business yet I havenโ€™t even finished my word press theme. The thing is I know people do deserve this more than I do. I want to give my brother a laptop he really needs one for university but he simply canโ€™t afford it with the drop in the Australian dollar. I want to give a laptop to my friend whose been great to me and recently suffered storm damage when a tree hit their roof: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7732696.stm. I also plan to find a local charity that could really benefit from some of this stuff although I donโ€™t know one yet I will ask around. Me I will be selfish and keep the touch smart to myself because this will really help with my graphics design and I simply canโ€™t afford one with no income and the Australian dollar dropping so much. Also my computer is almost broken. The graphics card is dead, and I can only get my computer to work half the time.

  341. My list includes an architecture and graphic design student in Michigan,USA (printer and HDX18), an author in Michigan, USA (HP Pavilion dv4-1145go), and an aspiring law student in Manchester, England (HP Mini 1000). I plan to keep the all-in-one and MediaSmart Connect.
    I wanna win!!!

  342. I forgot my City & State on my original post, so this is a corrected post.
The Entertainment Laptop and MediaSmart Connect would go to my Dad. As he can not move around so well now, so they would be a perfect toys.
The TouchSmart and premium laptop I would keep. I would set the mini laptop up for my roommateโ€™s use. The printer, photo package and software would be shared here at home
    Modesto CA USA

  343. La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
If i win this contest, i will keep for me the touchsmart pc, The notebook will go to my sister (she is a journalist, and due to the low salaries in argentine (less than 300 USD for month), she cant afford one, and she really needs on.
The multimedia nootbook will go to a friend, she was buying one (she ask some friend of her to buy it on europe, give them the mony, but the notebook never arrived)
You have to imagine the expensive that all this technology is to us….. i still have my nokia 1100 as a cell phone….

  344. I’d share the package with my family. I plan to give the mini notebook to my brother who does a lot of travelling. One lappy for my nephew. One for my mom who’s retiring and now has the time (finally) to learn to use a computer.
    San Bernardino CA USA

  345. I have three friends that I would share with. We chat every morning before work and I can tell how frustrated they are with their outdated computers. The frequent reboots, slow response times and red-faced emoticons with steam rolling out of their ears would be enough to tell me how much trouble they’re having, just maintaining enough of a connection to talk. All three of them are on marginal incomes and don’t have much chance of replacing their computers without some help.
One needs to do a lot more than chat on her computer, but it’s so cranky that any additional software overloads it and it has to be rebuilt.
Two of my friends are disabled. One is trying to finish a novel because she wants to be able to earn a living again. She needs better access to online information for her research. But what really drives her crazy is not being able to use good word processing software and her databases at the same time. She would get one of the laptops, because the one she’s using now has no battery and can’t handle much more than text documents — not to mention the fact that she can’t always get online because the ports are so crotchety.
My other disabled friend just needs a functioning computer. Period.
As for me? Right now, I’m looking at yet another rebuild — i’ve done it twice already this year, and it’s acting up again. I built it myself over six years ago and have been keeping it cobbled together as updates became necessary. It’s been a good computer, but it really wants to retire….

  346. oops, sorry…..
i hit submit before i added my location….
    I’m in Belton, Missouri, USA

  347. If I won these computers, I would donate them to our Traditional Catholic Church’s Homeschooling Co-op. This is a a group of mothers who are homeschooling alot of the kids from the Church, including their own, about 30 of them. They are homeschooling due to the very bad schools here in Albuquerue. The co-op had no computers so I purchased one last year and donated it. One computer is hardly enough to allow these kids to properly gain much experience on it so these 4 additional computers would be a huge improvement.

  348. I would share with my mother and grandmother. Neither of them have computers and could really use them for bills and keeping in touch with people. I could also use one myself for school.

  349. I actually plan to give 2 of the laptops away if I win the contest. I also plan to give my mother-in-law and her 90 year old Grandma the HP 100 netbook to occupy their time and let them view photos of all of their grandkids and great grandkids.

  351. Franklin, IN – USA
Everything but the laptop would go to the Southside Christian Academy in Indianapolis, IN. They have a great bunch of students with dedicated parents and teachers. It would be wonderful for them to receive new quality equipment. The laptop I would use to continue my own education. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

  352. I have a friend (her name is Ava Rogers) who is the most talented writer that I know. Sheโ€™s very rich in experiences, but quite poor financially. She does not own a computer and itโ€™s been the ONE thing that sheโ€™s wanted for such a long time. I know sheโ€™d be an amazing blogger. Iโ€™d love to be able to surprise her with a laptop. She could use the libraries wifi or even go write at the coffee shop down the street.

  354. I would share this with some great people. I teach 3rd grade ccd for 8 years
every year we have to watch our budget with the decline of children enrolling in CCD. The office needs a new computer. With our economy they can not afford it. i also have a sister who has a old computer and is partially blind who can’s see the screen i would share with her this is the season of giving…..
    Burbank, ill USA

  355. I’d keep the TouchSmart for myself to replace my TV (which I would donate as well if I were to win this). The rest of the package would go to Youth and Shelter Services here in Ames, Iowa, US. In particular, they have a transitional program for homeless pregnant youth and young parents to help them get started and computers are one of the big ticket items they have on their wishlist.

  356. Location: Atlanta, GA USA
Share With: Open Hand (meals for wheels organization)
I had heard about this group for years and knew the almost all volunteer force took meals to hundreds of Atlanta’s elderly and poor; But, until a friend asked me to help drive a route one Saturday, I never imagined the amount of organizing and behind the scenes work that goes into making sure each client receives meals that are specially prepared for their health needs.
They’re using older computers right now to process, print and organize the delivery routes (volunteers who actually do the delivering receive step by step directions from one client to the next … no maps printed … just text.) I’m certain a couple of new HPs would help the staff help the volunteers get those meals to folks with much less hassle.
Driving from client to client I’ve learned that we’re delivering more than just food to these folks; You can tell that for some people, the person making the delivery is the only human contact they’ll have that day. The most rewarding moment comes if the volunteer remembers the person’s name when doing the delivery. It’s almost like the food doesn’t matter anymore when some clients hear someone else say their name outloud.
Unfortunately, that moment doesn’t happen often enough because of the effort it takes as a volunteer following the text only directions from one client to the next ..to the next for five or six hours. I’m certain that a couple of computers at Open Hand’s central offices would end up making those deliveries go much smoother … and would also bring some extra smiles to thousands of Atlanta’s elderly and disabled on a weekly basis.
    Thanks.
    RICK

  357. I would share this with my daughter Angela and her 3 children-Terraza, Antonia and Cisco. Angela is a single parent who works very hard at her job but still barely makes ends meet They can’t afford a computor so this would be fantastic for them The kids always have a lot of homework and school projects and a computor would help them with this They now have to go to the library or come here to use mine which is 6 years old and extremely slow

  358. I’d share with my new mother-in-law who has about the worst computer set-up that I’ve seen. She’s really behind in the times.
    Mundelein, IL, USA

  359. I would share the prize with my mom and cousin. My cousin recently had a kid and is on maternity leave from her teaching job. The computers and accessories would help her alot.
    Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  360. If I won I would give the HDX 18 Notebook to my brother, who lives in London, UK. He’s a sculpture artist at the beginning of his career, so he definitely could use it for preparing presentations of his works. I would give the Pavilion dv4 to my older sister. She likes traveling, so she could use it as an entertainment device during one of her trips. I would give the Mini 1000 to my second sister. It’s small, portable device, so it could be used as good notebook during classes. The MediaSmart would be given to my parents. They could use it to watch pictures made by me (I’m a little bit vain, and I like to show my pictures to as many person, as possible ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). My sisters and parents live in Wroclaw, Poland (and me as well).
Because the photography is my hobby I would keep the TouchSmart and Photosmart for myself ๐Ÿ™‚

  361. About half of the prizes I plan to take to my biology classroom (classes start Jan 7th!) I’ve already seen my classroom and it is pretty awesome (but any room that I could call my own would be awesome!) Large with my own lab and Smartboard. There are bookshelves galore (I’ve already packed the books that I’m going to stuff them with). What I don’t have in the classroom is a printer or any student computers (I’m already planning on bringing my own scanner). The photo printer and package would be just perfect as I am trying to switch over to a portfolio evaluation system (rather than just tests to gauge student progress) and pictures are very important to show actions like labs which are harder to put to paper.
My mother (who is retiring and planning to travel) will get one of the laptops, the premium one (she’s worth it–trust me). My sister has a bottom of the line laptop so I’d swap out her laptop for the entertainment notebook and hers would come to my classroom along with the mini (which will be awesome out in the field!). I admit that I really really want the TouchSmart for myself (I have no TV and this sounds like an awesome upgrade to viewing movies on my laptop). I think the student-teacher Microsoft office goes without speaking and I trust that I will find good use for the other items. I would be happy to send pictures of everybody getting their prizes (and my new tricked out classroom!) as proof if I win. Please tech my room!
Either way all I can really hope for is to spend my whole life learning and imparting the joy of that to my students.
    School- Wayne County High School
    Location- Jesup Georiga

  362. This is a cool contest and it gives so much that its cool they want you to give. I will give most of it away if I win since I donโ€™t think I could have that much stuff in my room.
I would keep the desktop for my self because I really want it
The HDX I would give my best friend who told me about this in the first place
I would give the mini laptop to my friend in college who always has to go to the library to type all there papers and they can have the printer as well
The pavilion I would give to my girl friends bro who just had a kid and could use it to keep pictures and movies of his newborn son
And at last I would give the media smart connect to the library I work at since we have tons of programs for kids and show movies it would be nice to help get kids in the library
    duffield library detroit mi usa
That is what I would do if I win the super cool prize pack and remember sharing is caring lol.

  363. Greetings from Cody, Wyoming.
I know all of my family could use these, but I have two persons I would especially like to help with this gift. It seems that most large charitable organizations and groups get lots of donations of equipment and supplies but it is so hard to help individuals to improve their lives. I would like to make a difference on a more personal level.
First I want to help a young stay-at-home mom who is disabled. She has two little ones and a new baby on the way. Her husband is able to work but is also handicapped due to first a terrible auto accident that kept him in the hospital for months and it was years before he could walk again. Then two years ago he had some mini-strokes that left his one arm and hand crippled. They cannot afford to buy a computer of their own but if they had one that worked she could use her teaching degree to work with an online teaching opportunity that is available here. This would be a way that she could work as much as she is able and yet be home with her babies. This could really improve their standard of living, which is pretty much hand-to-mouth.
The second person I would like to help is also a young woman of limited means. She was in an abusive marriage and just walked away from everything she had in order to save her life. She is rebuilding her life but because her ex-husband had done things that ruined their credit, she is struggling. She has the opportunity to do freelance work at night in addition to her regular day job for extra income if she had a decent computer. If I could do this for her it would really help to get her back on her feet.
Thanks for your consideration. This is such a wonderful thing you are doing.

  364. I would share this with my mother and father. When I moved out of the house not too long ago, I took the computer equipment with me being that I needed it most for school and work. My parents are now without computers and could really use having it available to them to take care of business and to keep in touch.

  365. I would share it with my girlfriend because she doesn’t have a netbook.
    San Rafael, CA, USA

  366. I live in Garden Grove, California, USA.
One of the computers would go to my mom since she doesn’t have her own and I feel she could really use it. Another computer would go to my close friend Fabrice. He is a geek and Im sure he would greatly appreciate a new computer to replace his ancient laptop. The rest of the prizes would go to my college or to other friends whom I feel would benefit from them.

  367. I think I forgot to post, so anyways.
I live in Garden Grove, California, USA.
One of the computers I would give to my mom since she doesn’t have her own. Another computer would go to my friend Fabrice because he has been a great friend to me and as a geek I am sure he would love having a newer computer than his ancient laptop. The remaining prizes I would give to my college or to other friends whom I think would greatly benefit from it.

  368. If I win this contest I will want to share one laptop with United Christmas Service (Part of United Way), Indianapolis, Indiana. Actually we small group of people every year give something to them. Last year we were able to sponsor 3 kidโ€™s clothing and food needs. This year we also trying make it to that goal again. I helped purchases and wrap gifts last year and it was so rewarding to know that those kids were going to have basic nessities (t-shirts, work pants, school uniforms) that most of take us for granted. If I win this contest I want to add one computer on their gift list.
2nd computer I want to share with my friend who is in India and struggling to find a job. This computer will help him to learn some technology and make him compent to find the job.

Oh, where to start. I would like to pick someone from a angel tree or charitable orgainization to give one of these two. I myself would love to have the touchsmart and premium laptop. My daughter is in college and could use the entertainment laptop and media smart connect.
The pc would most likely go to my uncle who is homebound, we saw him this past weekend and he is so bored, he needs a hobby, and I can not think of a better way for him to see the world than with the web. I would have to convience him to get internet however! I would love to share with others this great package. I am adding your button to my blog.

  370. I want to give you a couple of good reasons to give this wonderful present to me:
I help a lot of people around me with their computers, but lately my mother has needed
my help more often, than i had time to give. The reason for this is her 10 year old pc, which i will replace with one of the computers from the package, if i got it. And you can believe me that i will do this, because it is also in my best interest :-). On top of this, I promise, that one of the prices (probably the printer or mini-laptop) will go to my motherโ€™s class, because it consists of 90% immigrants and 10% handicapped children (i am not exaggerating!), which are the poorest people i know.
    1120 Vienna, AUSTRIA

  371. I would share one or more of the notebooks/mini computer and most of the software with my children’s school–LGA Schechter (Northampton, MA). While the school faculty and facility are top-notch, they use cast-off technology that needs replacing.

  372. Hi,
    Taylor, AZ 85939 USA
My neice and nephew were taken from their parents and put into fostercare about 5 years ago. They were treated really bad by the foster family. Then my mom got custody of them and they moved about 45 mins away. I would like to give them one of the laptops to help with school and keeping in touch with friends.
I also want to give the mini laptop to either (depending on when I would receive the item) a giving tree program (the ones in the banks at the holidays) or to a school. I also want to give the office program to a school and the dvd;s to a giving tree program as well,
    Thank you for your consideration
    Kathy

  373. I would love to share this with my husbands grandmother. She has a grandson in Germany, a grandson (his wife and their daughter) in England and a granddaughter in Washington D.C. She lives in SLC, Utah (USA), so staying connected can be difficult without a computer. She doesn’t own one, so I would love to help her learn how to email and keep in touch with our family!

  374. I’d share with my girlfriend, whose hand-me-down laptop (not even in English windows) is causing her lots of trouble. A computer for my mom, who would love to have her own to use. For my benchmate at work, whose aging MacBook is randomly dying and risk losing all her data. And one for me, of course. : )
    Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada

  375. I would share with my brother John. He has an old computer with windows 98 in it that our older sister gave him years ago. It’s so slow he waits sometimes 5 minutes for a page to load! I work on it for him and keep it going but it is getting about hopeless. He can’t afford to buy one. He barely makes enough money to live on.

  376. Hi Jake!I’m Michael Ware from Natchez, Mississippi USA. I would share the package with my cousin because when I needed help the most this past year he basically took me in as one of his own. I would helping him bring forth a magical Christmas to his five kids.

  377. Isn’t it just magic to watch someone get an unexpected blessing?
    3 laptops… what fun!
First would be my best friend. She has 4 kids under 5 and no access to a computer. Her family is facing bankruptcy and recently had to move into a tiny 2 bedroom apartment because they can’t afford anything else. I would love to give her the freedom of her own computer. I can only imagine all the things she could do with it! She’s had so many rough things happen in the last few years (and she never complains) that I’d love to do this nice thing for her!
Next up – my husband’s cousin. She’s a senior in high school and the often overlooked younger sister to a girl with some serious rebellious tendencies. She wants to be a writer. This would be the best gift ever for her and something she could never afford on her own.
Finally, Iโ€™d give one as a prize to the top student in my husbandโ€™s classes. He works with kids who canโ€™t pass the state math test and I hope this would motivate them to work hard!
I’d save the desktop for myself to replace my 4+ year old laptop and help me edit pictures!
    Wenatchee, WA – USA

  378. Dear Jake,
There are several people I would like to share this giveaway with:
My cousin Kelley – dv4 notebook because she’s using an imac from like 2002.
My friend Erin – TouchSmart, printer, photo pack, and Kung Fu Panda because she’s computer-less and car-less. I don’t know how she survives and she doesn’t need portability since she can’t go anywhere =P
My dad – the MediaSmart because there were at least 3 other computers in the house the last time I went home
Me – I’d keep the big laptop and the mini.
    Thanks,
    Jackie
PS – For official purposes, my real name is Jaclyn, and if you’re coming to my doorstep in College Station, TX, USA, I hope you know something about ubuntu or kubuntu because the last time I tried installing them, either the sound or the wireless internet would not configure properly…

  379. I would share this prize with my mother, because she is ill and bed ridden and has no computer. I think this would really help her enjoy her time. She has wanted a computer for so long, but we cant afford it. She would get a laptop. I dont know who else yet. Im sure I will have no trouble finding someone or an organaztion to give it to. Christmas is here, so giving away amazing gifts like this would be AWESOME.

  380. If I won the package, the majority of the contents would be distributed among my family. I’m the youngest person in my family, at 24, and the only person in my generation. The rest of my family, God bless them, are at a complete loss when it comes to technology. They have no idea the extent to which technology can improve the quality of their everyday lives! I would love to show them how accessible technology is becoming. My mother, for instance, would like to start her own business, and there’s no doubt that a shiny new computer and some great software (combined with several tutorials, of course) would greatly aid her.
We’re from Venice, Florida, USA though I currently live in Orlando, Florida, USA while attending school.
    Good luck, everyone.

  381. I would donate two computers to a 5th grade classroom (in Idaho Falls, Idaho USA). Maybe Iโ€™m biased, because Iโ€™m sleeping with the teacher. Ok fine, heโ€™s my husband. He is working on his masters in โ€œLearning and Technologyโ€ to utilize technology in his teaching. The problem? His school canโ€™t afford the equipment he needs to implement what he is learning. He has a lot of cool ideas for using computers in teaching, & the kids would love it.
I would give one computer to my brother, who has had an unbelievable string of bad luck. Most recently, two of his three kids came down with the same disease he has. His insurance sucks, and he is looking into internet-business opportunities, for some extra income. (He reads my blog, so Iโ€™m posting this here because I would love to surprise him.)
I would keep one computer and the printer for myself. I have been stressed about the inevitable approaching death of my computer, and how my little home business will afford a new one.

  382. I would like to win because I want to give my friend Yuji his dream come true. He has been there for us many times and he never asked for anything back and as a teenager, thatโ€™s pretty rare. He is in love with technology, but heโ€™s always on a tight budget and cannot afford any good hardware, so this Christmas, I would like to give him the perfect gift, courtesy of HP and MSFT, hardware for him to Photoshop and program on. I would also like to give my Brother Leon a new computer, because of the horrible economy; we canโ€™t afford to give him even a decent computer for college. So I would like to make up for it and give him what he deserves. Thank you for listening.
    Bellevue, Washington-USA

  383. I would share my prizes with my family. My married daughter had cancer and they are going to be moving this month. They couldn’t find a house to buy so they have to rent. I think they could us a supprise. I would give some of the other gifts to my dear grandchildren which they could use for school.

  384. I would share this package to Best DAWG Rescue. They focus their mission on saving dogs with treatable medical conditions, and overlooked or shy dogs not selected by anyone else. These dogs were left for dead, work out mother dogs saved by shelters only to feed their puppies, burned dogs, older dogs, dogs at the verge of death, dogs for whom people had โ€œno more time.โ€ My family has rescued three of these miracle dogs and we wish that we could do more. The Rescue has no financial safety net of funding and exists solely through the generosity of others. Times are tough right now and not many people are donating, not because they do not want to, but because they cannot. This prize would help the Rescue continue their work, as the volunteer run group is currently using outdated equipment to support their wonderful cause.
The rescue is located in Bethesda, MD USA and I am located in Silver Spring, MD USA.

  385. Jake,
I’d share some of the gear with a local charity in my hometown of Sacramento, CA, USA. It’s called WIND Youth Center, and you can read more about it here: http://www.windyouth.org/. It’s an education program for homeless and at-risk kids, and what better way to educate than with some brand-spanking-new computers.
    Thanks.

  387. I love that “sharing the magic” is something that the bloggers involved _added_ to the contest.
I’d share the HP/Windows magic (some portion of it, anyway) with an organization called Heifer International (http://heifer.org). There are also some local small family farmers in my neighborhood that could use some extra magic…

  388. This would be shared with my friends and family, along with my son’s teacher (and school) and some will be shared with a nonprofit organization that helps feed the needy.
We’d love to win, here in San Jose, CA USA!

  389. Rapid City, SD
I’d share with the youth organizations here in town. Great of you altogether to donate your time and expertise here.

  390. Two close friends of mine recently started their own multi-media production company. They are amazingly creative and talented people, but are struggling with very limited funds right now. This will be an incredible help for their business. I will also share this prize package with my father. Since his retirement, he has become an avid photographer and photoshop user, but his computer is pretty old and he can’t afford a new one. Thank you for this great opportunity. -Dave, Buffalo, NY, USA

  391. I know this is longer than you wanted, but I needed someone to hear me:
My reasons for wanting to win this contest is difficult to right because as I write the words they become more realistic. Please believe me when I tell the hardships my family has endured. First My mom lost her father and a younger and older brother within a 3 year span. It has been hard on her and I see her cry when she talks about them. Shortly after this she became disabled, she won’t tell us everything she has or if it was the deaths of her family members, but I do know she has agoraphobia. I am 23 and I have 2 more sisters one who is 22 and one who will be 16 shortly. I have cancer and just had my cervex removed. My 22 year old sister is disabled with melonoma cancer, which is weird because she has never liked being in the sun. She is also agoraphic (correct spelling?) Myself and my 22 year old sister have a very rare blood disorder called inherited Dysfibrinogenemia. They say they don’t know alot about the disease. But I think it is causing the cancer in us. There are only about 300 people in the entire world who have this form of the disease. If I won this contest I would give my mom and my sisters computers. Because mom and sis doesn’t leave the house and this way they could have a life to read the news or anything they choose. My youngest sister stays at home for e-schooling on a computer because she has to be here to help my disabled family if something happens. Please let me pay it forward and help my family. Please, I know some of you think that this is a fake plea. But it isn’t. All of what I have told you is true. Please let me win, Please. I am just posting this on each giveaway site because it is too hard to keep writing.

  392. I would give my niece a pc. She lives with her grandparents and does not have a pc. She is in high school and has to check one out from the school if she has to use one at home. It would be really nice to give her a great gift she could use and appreciate.
    Carnation, Washington USA

  393. Buenos Aires, Argentina
In case of winning the contest, the prize would go to my godchildren, and they serve to their education. I have a goddaughter in the province of Formosa, or one in Buenos Aires, both school aged, and none of them can buy a notebook, and they serve a lot to them.

  394. I would share with my sisters who have both gone back to college. New laptops would really help them out and they are unable to afford them right now.
I am in Overland Park, Kansas.

  395. I will very happily share my prize with SASHA Farm in Manchester, Michigan.
Their mission is to provide a safe and secure environment, lifetime care and medical treatment for unwanted, neglected, misused, and abused domestic and farmed animals.
    Thank you!

  396. Michele Pineda
    Waterville, ME USA
I work for a non-profit organization which has a Teen Center. Since some of these teens don’t have computers or service at home, I would love to share the prize package with them. Many schools now require school work and reports to be done on the computer. Not everyone can afford to have access to them. At the Teen Center, these kids will be able to do research, study, print reports and have fun. Thanks for the great opportunity to help make todays dreamers tomorrow’s leaders!

  397. I’d share the package with my neighbors who had a fire in their home 6 months ago and lost almost everything, and are still waiting for the insurance company to get the necessary repairs done so they can move back into their house.
    Mineola, New York
    USA

  398. If I win I would share the prize with the Community Services Village in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. They operate a food bank and provide literacy programs, essential skills training, educational support and other services.

  399. If I win he prize, I’d share it with my favorite charity: Teach For America (Bay Area Chapter). Teach For America aims to end educational inequity–their mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation’s most promising future leaders to teach in public schools within low-income/high-poverty communities. I think their mission is noble, and I hope by sharing my prize I can help them with their mission and vision of building a better America for all children.
    Sunnyvale, CA, USA

  400. I would give my college age daughter and my high school son each their own computer. Neither of them own their own. Thank you
    Sandy, Oregon, USA

  401. I’d share some of the prizes with my niece and nephew. They’re of the high school and college age, so some of the items would be useful for their studies.
    -Jack
    New York, NY, USA

  402. My donee of choice would be the Trenton YMCA here:
    http://trentonymca.org/
    In Trenton, NJ, USA.
Trenton has its rough areas that are quite economically depressed. The YMCA is an oasis of safety and activity for young children here. I think it would be great to provide technology for these kids to use after school to learn and play with!

  403. I would be so happy to share some of my items with my friends, including my buddy Andy, who has helped me in so many ways. He is a true friend. Burlington Ontario Canada

  404. I am highly impressed by the generosity of the entrants and how many have such noble causes. I wish I could join them but I have 5 children and two parents who could all use a computer. I would have to choose who amongst them could use one the most and frankly who I think could do the most with it. I also have two friends who have NO computer. There just happen to be a lot of good people who could use this. Good luck to all.

  405. I Would Like To Keep The HP Touchsmart And The HP Pavillion For Myself, As I Am Trying To Upgrade My Small Auto Repair Company. I Would Give The Rest To My Twin Brother, As He Was Devestated By A Fire 6 Months Ago And Lost Almost Everything. He Was Not At Home At The Time, Thank God. I Have Tried To Help Him, By Have Limited Money, And , As Most Of His Items Were Not Covered, He Has Been Left To Replace His Electronics Himself. This Would Make A Wonderful Christmas, For A Wonderful Brother.
    Thank You For Your Time.

  407. I would share with members of my family who can’t afford to buy a new computer. We can’t, and we don’t have a photo printer, so we would probably keep one. Daughter is in college and desperately needs a computer, but we can’t buy one for her. My father is retired, interested in genealogy, and trying to scan in family photos and document what he knows. Plus, I’d love to give something back to him and my mom in appreciation for all they’ve done over the years.

  408. I would share this with both my daughter and my tech-crazed husband.
My daughter is a struggling college student and could use this!
    Thank you.

I would give my mother and stepfather in Louisiana one of the new computers because theirs crashed and my stepdad was recently laid off from his job. I would give another one of the computers to my dad and stepmom here in Georgia because the computer they have now was bought at a refurbishment place for $150. I would give another computer, the printer, and the media connect to my fellow interns at the theater that I work at because we’re all just starting out in our careers and it’d be nice to share that with someone to help them along. I’d give Kung Fu Panda to my little brother and his friend. The only thing I would keep would be one of the the laptops, and the interns and i would share the photo pack so we could print out some headshots. ๐Ÿ™‚

  412. I work in education with primary school children aged 3-11. I would like to use this amazing equipment to introduce the new technologies to the children. At the moment our ICT budget doesn’t stretch very far therefore technology is dated and limited and products like this are only a dream. Something like this in our school would help to make children more aware of the technologies available to them; we can use this hardware to make learning more fun and enjoyable. I would use all the awarded prizes in school for children, staff and myself (ICT Technician) and I believe each item will bring so much to our school. The touchsmart computer is a dream piece of equipment for every learning child with its more hands on approach! Demonstrating this to the higher staff levels could lead to mass introduction of the product. I believe a childs education is the most important thing, the more ways we have to enhance their learning the better.

  413. I would share the computers with my family, my brother and his family, my sister and hers, and with one of my sister’s-in-law. Why? They need computers.

  414. I would donate to my children’s school in Evansville, IN. They could use some new computers.

  415. I will share my package with the Boys and Girls club here in town. My daughter attends their after school program. The kids learn and help each other a great deal there. They can always use more good equipment. I would give one laptop to my brother, as he is currently going to college, while working full-time and being a dad/husband. The only thing I want to keep for my home is one of the laptops, as I don’t have one. Everything else will be donated around my hometown of Crawfordsville, IN

  416. The most obvious recipient for my part would be my parents.
They take in kids who have been kicked out of their homes etc, prior to when a foster family can take them. Those kids have to put up with not having any real computer access for the time they’re there.. And I figure it’d help them pass the time better if they would. ๐Ÿ™‚
